I found a decent CL CUCV rig. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/2326181859.html

Body and interior was solid, the rig looked to be well maintained, and I got it for a decent price because he could not start it, plus he knew the truck wasn't running right.

I'm cashing in some favors to see if the 6.2 will live again. If it's a no go, I am thinking of swapping in a 5.7 tbi from my 87 k5.

Worse case and I do a swap, I figure I'm looking at right now a new wiring harness, might as well justify some new headers, change fuel lines, and I might as well put in a fuel cell (although I love the fuel tank skid plate).

Any other foreseeable BS I'm gonna run into on this pig? :dunno: Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions you can throw at this old polack :waytogo:

What's "wrong" with it and what's it doing?

I think for all the hassle of swapping motors you be better off leavin it a diesel, jmho. good luck

FYI,a bad injector can make a diesel knock, and it'll sound a lot like a bad rod bearing...maybe you'll get lucky...

Even injector lines not properly isolated can cause a knock sound...

many 6.2 rigs have been sold with "bad engines" for cheap, only to have the real issue be relatively minor.

There is water in the motor oil, but I bought it knowing the motor maybe trash. :doah:

Oh well, I got it cheap, the body is solid, the th400 looks like it was recently rebuilt, and I just seen a CL ad for a running 6.2L.

it looks pretty good from the tiny pics.. i was lucky enough to score my m1008 for $1300 and that only needed a water pump and a brake line.
