My tail gate has never shut tight since I finished putting the truck back together. So today I decided to figure out why. The drivers side does fine but the passanger side is miss alligned, and sticks out a bit... I spent almost 2 hours out there un bolting and rebolting it every possible way, getting a major head ache. Then i'm sitting on the tail gate and look at the part mounted to the truck bed rail that the little fork thing grabs onto and locks onto. I think... If I could move it back some it should fix it, then I realize its on upside down... 2 bolts later it shuts like new:rolleyes::crazy::D

It is all part of the learning process. I bet it will not take that long next time you re-align a tail gate.

oh, I know that, I was proud that I finally got it. Now to make my hood fit correctly and the doors not sag

At least you can get your bolts to move :doah:On my Jimmy they are rusted on there, and the part they bolt to is half gone so the tailgate stays until I cut it off :haha:

Man that sucks, I'm glad I'm in South Carolina, the rust free belt, My 72 barely has any rust:wink1:

Maybe the doors are on upside down!!:haha:

some times you get headed a certain direction or your mind set on a certain chain of events when there is something much simpler right in front of you. I run into this from time to time. Just the way it goes!

i always refer to it as "losing perspective". can happen on everything from small jobs to overall projects... sometimes someone will walk up and go "hey why not try this?" and your like DOAH! :doah: :haha:

:haha: aint that the truth. my mom has helped me solve electrical gremlins before.

what about doors, my passenger door has always closed nicely on my 79. The driver's side is another story, have replaced the hinges, striker bolt and mechanism in the door, adjusted the hinges, etc...all to no avail, I still have to slam it shut everytime, freaking sucks. Maybe it's cause it's a 79...oh well I tried:p:
