I have a quick question about N2O

future thread titles.

"what can i put on the top of the piston to plug up that big hole?"

"how does one go about getting the piston out if it's melted to the cylinder hole?"

but on aserious note. pretty much what they said dry shot

Dont waste your money. Its something that only give power when you hit a button and will continue to cost you money

Im going with 5.13 gears and a 50 shot if i can find one, will only be used during mud boggs

Smarter to build the motor rather than run NO2. Cam, intake, headers etc are all in the same price range and are a much wiser upgrade.

:haha::haha:smartass.

you mud boggs must be diffrent than ours...you have to run outlaw or xx class for nitrous, blowers or tractor tires here...you also run aginst sand rails in thoose classes too

H/C/I=Heads/Cam/Intake?

Engine needs to be built to make power, as it's a package. You can't throw $1200 heads and get anywhere near ideal gains if you put a poor flowing intake on it, or have poor exhaust for example.

Boost compression a bit, good flowing heads, good flowing exhaust and intake, TBI that will flow enough air to feed the engine at it's highest demand, injectors that will supply enough fuel, and custom chip to make sure the ECM is providing the right timing and fuel at the right time, for that engine.

I know very little about nitrous, so I can't comment on engine safety, how it could affect how the TBI operates, etc., but for the cost, I suspect it's probably a lot cheaper than spending money on all the parts required to make a non-nitrous engine reach the same power level. Obviously you can't just look at parts cost, because if the nitrous puts such a load on the engine that it destroys itself, you've wasted pretty much everything. Time, money, parts. :)

H/C/I=Heads/Cam/Intake?

yes heads cam and intake..... if you dont know jack about nitrous dont use it..... dry shots are pretty much gonna screw up your motor....... smaller the shot the long it will take to fry it but on your motor... im guess having atleast 100k miles and prob. never been rebuild... your better off buying a ZZ4 get a good flowing dual plane intake and up the injector size.... get someone to burn you a custom chip... or just pull a LT1 outta a 94-97 camaro. You would prob. be better off finding a wrecked camaro or LT1 cop car and swaping motors. Reseal it(ie. new gaskets throughout) get a good tune in the PC,gasket match the intake and exhaust. and get a GM hot cam. i gotta run now but ill chat a lil later on

Can a shot of nitrous be put on a tbi blazer?

i agree with everyone that it's not wise, but yes, it can be done, and no, it's not hard. used VERY conservatively, you can run it without damage, but you'll need to increase fuel flow to avoid leaning out and getting the type of damage that's already been mentioned.

my friend blew his intake manifold apart on a 96 tbi 4.3L v6. he was drag racing, which he did on a regular basis, but he had been running a 50 shot and upgraded to 100. at least he won before he had to be towed off the track.

A motor swap isnt going to be cheap, then again not super expensive. I prolly did mine for 2500. (considering its a low miles motor, fuel system, wiring, flywheel, etc its very good deal)

Ive done an lt1 swap, I would not recommend it to ANYONE for a mud truck. If the optispark gets a drop of water on it, itll act up. Although not a very hard swap (depending on if you do the harness or not) it is time consuming and you need to cut the pass frame rail to clear a pulley.

Find a set of good used heads, a decent cam, and good intake. Itll be fairly cheap (if your patient enough) alot more stout and youll have the power ALL THE TIME, not when you hit a button.

Also, im not huge into nitrous but, a dry shot isnt ideal. Because theres not extra fuel itll burn lean which will create issues over time.

N2O is not a good idea... especially just to try to win in a mud bogg contest.. :haha:

I am going to play the devils advocate here. First. TBI will respond nice with N02 but I would use a wet shot not dry. Less than a 100 to keep your lowerend together unless you have a 4 bolt main.. Holly NoS makes a good wet shot system for TBI that will not destroy your engine.
