I was playing automotive hide and seek with trucks and cb radios, we call it fox hunting, and I was in an unfamiliar field. Hit some large rocks, bent my tie rod ( the bar that extends from the left wheel to the right wheel across the front of the front axle, I assume that's what it's called but everyone I've talked to seems to have their own name for it) and my steering stabalizer.
What's the best place to look for a replacement tie rod?
Does anyone make a skidplate or a custom tie rod to prevent this from happening again. It seems like it would be a very common problem.

bend it back out for the time being if you HAVE to drive the truck...drive to your favorite parts store, have them order you a new one. both ends and the sleeve will set you back 100-150$.

next time you bend it, unthread one of the tie-rod ends and hammer your high-lift handle over the tie rod. That will straighten it out enough that you can get home or to the trailer

I got my tie rod from www.offroaddesign.com , there 1.5" thick tie rod and ends set me back about $200 but it was worth it because it is beefy and I shouldnt bend it easily.
