I just heard a very disturbing rumor

The reason I was given for that is they can't control the manual transmission the way they can an auto. Some powertrain people told it was a saftey issue, nothing more. They didn't want the manual guy to be able to spin the tires as easily. The duramaxes I drove with allisons, and over 500ftlbs torque, couldn't break the tires loose from the line. Talk about torque control.

I sort of heard that too, the clutch is the weak link, BUT not that they were discontinuing them. Thats why the manuals have the LB7 not the LLY. Is that what you meant?

As for breaking them loose, I beg to differ on that one too.

I am one for manual trannies, thats all I own, I was raised driving them and thats it, however, I dont really care for a manual in a diesel, I dont know, I havent had that much time with one, but you gotta row through the gears, really quick, I thought my blazer had to be shifted fast. I dont mind it, but I think an auto would be a little better over the long run..

why?

why not put a 12v cummins with 5sp into your k30. Cost less, be way cooler, and have more power than a duramax (with hop-ups to the cummins) To each their own i guess.

yep your right it would be way cooler....but i dont have the time, money and patience for that right now..cant have my truck down that long anyways...it would just be easier to get a whole truck...i mainly was looking for one just to drive it...compared to the auto truck ive driven alot lately...
