I know what i want, but idk where im at

Ive got a 1986 M1009, and I can attest that it will spin the tires with more gear, not because I re-geared, but because I took it out and tried to spin tires in 2HI, and couldnt, then put it in 4LO without locking the front hubs, and spun the tires without issue.

also, you mention you may have blown a piston, which may have something to do with a lack of power

about the blown piston i just have alot of bubble in my radiator when i take the cap off but i havent checked the oil or radiater to see if any wierd fluids are in it.

and i want crazy h.p. cause thats how i am i have a 15ft boat made for a 30 h.p. motor and i have a 115 johnson on it so when i got the blazer i said to my self as soon as i can blow this motor im going big with it. also im not just going bogging in it. i want to go driving it threw trees, and take it to the drag strip, pull a 4000 pound party barge. also the motor power the more fat chick i can put in it lol

Blazers aren't exactly great towing rigs, and high horsepower engines aren't the best for towing either.

As for a blown piston, I think you mean blown headgasket?

What ever it is im not climbing into it to just keep fixing this motor the truck needs to much work and for me to do all that work to still have an old truck doesnt make since to me. if im going to drop 10000 to 15000 into her i want new, reliable, and strong parts that all together work together. To just throw a whole bunch of expensive parts that say they will make this and that fast better or stonger is bs. but to get a strong vehicle and put all the new and improved drive-train qualitys in is to me as good or if not better then a brand new vechile. that was the purpose of this thread to find what upgrades work best together. yall have already convenced me into putting a 5.3 v8 that im gona fix up a lil bit and i find that the rest of the drive train ive picked will work great for what im doing with this truck

Awesome, LS is the way to go. Big blocks have/had there place. But these days the LS brings a lot more to the table. If your working budget is decent look for a 6.0 instead of the 5.3. It'll give you a bit more torque down low where a truck needs it. :waytogo:

well i looked up both and i went online and u can get a wrecked truck for 700 with a running 5.3 all i need to do is put some new heads and a cam for the motor and a painless wiring harness... does painless make a 5.3 to m1009 wiring harness cause i need one for inside and under the hood so i figure it dont really mater if its for the m1009 or just a regular 85 blazer with a 6.2. back to what i was talking about. it seems that u can get a cheap running 5.3 like nothing and also the after market parts are cheaper when come to getting the 550 hp i want
so im just going with that

You'll probably want to get a "stand alone" harness for the engine from Painless or Howell Fuel Injection or Pacific Fab or whatever other sources. Then get one of the Painless kits to rewire the truck. I don't think it has to be specifically for a diesel since you are removing that anyways. Prob worth a phone call to Painless or whoever and tell them what you have, what your are putting in and see what they have to make it work.
