i might be able to get a d-max/allison/transfer case for my sub :)

Scott, this is awesome! I hope you can get your hands on this drivetrain. You will definetly have a one of a kind Burb that will last for another 20 years! Would be awesome to tow your Yota with that setup. Good luck to ya. Let me know when you get it. I might have to come down and see it :)

All the way down the street....lol

oh youll be there helping me.... or youll never get to ride in or drive it! and i moved out to henderson a few months ago. i live at russel and eastern area. actually just north of the vegas/henderson border. i can imagine im gona be emplaying the help of all my friends on this one, its gonna be monster garage only without the rediculous budget... and camera crews.

I would love to be a part of a project like that! You should still have my cell. If not PM me and I can send it to you;)

damn its setting in how big this will be im making a list:
fab motor mounts
fab engine x-member
fab tranny x-member
install floormounted cable operated shifter
eliminate the column shifter
make gauges work
swap axle for a ford D60
steering for a ford D60
swap brake boosters and MCs
make hoses for heater
make hoses for a/c comp.
convert my a/c to work with the new comp.
mount CAC (intercooler for the non diesel junkies)
mount tranny cooler
mount furel cooler
mount fuel transfer pump
have driveshafts made
mount the buttons for the new transfercase
eliminate the old case shifter

mount fuel transfer pump

not needed. dmax doesnt use one.

oh and i was thinking that the 263 might have a normal driveshaft. may have the slip in the front driveline in the transfer case.

can you "lever shift" the t-case instead of having to use buttons?

it's a lot of work i know. and that can be intimidating, but the first step is the hardest.

can't wait to see it. lot's of luck.:D

I heard that GM won't build one because the Allison wont fit in the trans tunnel. Seems like that wouldn't be that hard of a mod to accomplish.

Well ford was able to make a Diesel Excursion, I would think that Chevy would want to follow suit.....

they will fit in the trans tunnel if you put a 2 inch body lift on it. the hd trucks have a 2 inch body lift and the same floorpans/trans tunnels as the utilities. the guy that builds the dmax subs uses the hd front frame section with the stock utility rear frame and a 2 inch body lift on the back to make them fit.

yeah ive seen that guy before... impressive work. im still really wanting to do this, it just depends on wether or not i can actually get the truck... im still not sure about that part yet.

you've gatta do this man if you get the truck. you would have the sickest burban ever. we are all cheering for you!!! im jealous already

oh if i get the truck ill do it! like i sadi im just not sure if ill get it yet.

Interesting, I have this same project going on with a K5...

I was planning on using period 2500 or 3500 truck mc/booster and using a vacuum pump, comments on this? Seemed simpler than the hydroboost...

The 2" body lift you already have is what I was planning, (rough) measurements off my 05 dmax and an old k5 body I have seem to indiciate everything will fit without too much hacking. If anything a bit of tunnel fab and things should be okay?

My main concern is finding a frame solution for the k5, I want a 1-ton frame but it appears none of the 1-ton or 3/4-ton frames will fit the k5 decently (based on where the hump is for the rear axle... did they even make extended cab 3/4 or 1-tons in that era?) I assume you're using the 3/4 burb that is for sale for the last time again :P

Good luck on getting the drivetrain, this should be an awesome project for both of us! I absolutely love the duramax. Keep us updated.
