I miss the way my truck used to look

eh, sometime between the 4th of July and Labor day... it's all money... got another 4 or 5 to spend...

it'll be a year and a 1/2 at that point... a far cry less than many "projects" in here...

Haha i call bs... Lol. Oh and bump, sweet rig, is it still alive?

Good call Deuling, and nice bump.

Between 4th of July and Armageddon.:haha:
With a Crew Cab in between

What's funny is reading thru this thread. As soon as I saw that post I was like I gotta link that to the lounge so we can all laugh at it. But you beat me too it. Lol

what, no witty comeback Adam?

I always think it's funny when I get my balls busted about my rig not being done... must make you all feel good or something I suppose...

funny how none of the other 5 to 10 yr projects in this forum are ever brought to light (names withheld), and there are plenty... but my 4 yr build gets my balls busted.... let alone the ones people bail on or sell off...

you find 3000 hrs to create junk like that, than talk to me.. oh, wait, I forgot most wouldn't attempt something as outside the box... :angry1:

Look.... (From the perspective of someone who hasn't busted yer balls).

I think everyone messes with you, because you have the best rig around.
It's pretty obvious... :D

It's gonna take a long time to build, because yer a craftsman.
A maker of fine things, and fine things take time....

We, the joke-maker's, if you will, are more into instant gratification.

I personally love yer rig.
Every piece is so well thought out! :D

I appreciate that, thanks....

I certainly don't think my rig will be best in here when completed, on multiple fronts.. But I do know I've done some damn innovative fun stuff that no one else has...

it gets annoying when people question the effort or finances it takes to build it... I know plenty of people in here that have dumped a ton of money quick into vehicles, I make far less money than that.... to the point that the money going into this rig was taking away from more important real world things.. I certainly wish I could go buy some Boyce 1 ton's or a big horse crate motor, but I can't...

let alone the stupid amount of hrs I have in labor-wise....

Sticker is worth a thousand words........

thanks, that's what my windshield visor phrase will be... :pimp:

and yeah, I've done hotrods in the past where all the parts come from Summit and other vendors...

that just takes a checking account, custom ideas are "I want a circuit breaker panel in my glovebox and I don't care what it takes..." :doah: :haha:

hoh damn!

i dont know if i got lumped into that but i sure wasnt giving you **** for your build!
if anything it was just funny to see how easy it is to think you can see the light in the tunnel to finding yourself years down the road.

i dont think anyone would ever say your build isnt deserving along a few others to be in the "mystical & epic" class of build thread on here.
i know its one of a few thats worth going back thru every now and then and catching up on all the cool **** that has taken you a few weeks to hand form instead of just wacking with a cutoff wheel like most of us (atleast me for sure! )

i know i can speak for a lot when i say i value your time/effort/dedication/blood/sweat/tears/back pain and enjoy reading up on it.

where is this Adam, you speak of?

Paul I know your work speaks for itself, and is highly regarded by ALL who follow your thread. Its always at the top of the heap when you got something going on. I can certainly appreciate, but never replicate your craftsmanship and ingenuity. I feel good about what I've done, having never done much for fab work until the Maiden project, and with the help and backing of CK5'ers like yourself (remember the cage meltdown I had???). I give Adam a little sh!t too, mostly cuz he's young and he will step up the quality and innovation of his rig as he gets older and wiser I'm sure.
With all you've been through in the last 3 years or so, I can truly appreciate where your at now, as most who have kept up with your thread can attest to also. The fact that your back to work is a great accomplishment of its own.
So keep at it my Saltwater friend, you need to justify yourself to no-one.

ryoken, I know the feeling. Mine has been ongoing for 10 years but I wheel mine inbetween modding it. The longest it was down was in 2010 from January to August. I could have got it done my May but life got in the way and I took some time off. I almost sold everything off and walked away a few times that year. Once I got some life issues out of the way it was balls to the wall for a little over 6 weeks. I think in that 6 weeks there were 2 days I didn't work on it. Goal was to have it at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals and I made it on Sunday. Truck wasn't running and I was dead. I did 52 hours straight slept for 4 hours and then did another 42. 16 of the 52 was at my normal job. It was crazy but I would do it again if I had to.

Then

Now

And that is my daughter Katelynn in both pictures. I have the truck tore down now getting some more crap done and getting ready for the wheeling season.

With the help of some good friends aka THE PIT CREW it was up and running in no time.

nope, strictly Adam's comment and bump...

My bad paul I really wasnt trying to be mean or anything at all and it had nothing to do about making me feel good about anything, your rig is sweet and it amazes me of all the time you take on things that I would never be capable of, but I just saw the deadline you made here and thought it would be funny to bring it up to the top.

Sorry if I offended you I really didnt mean to :doah:

I am with Adam. Sorry if it hit a nerve. I think we all have that I will have it done in six month bug. And while I have it apart I might as well bug, oh it will only take an extra week, and I think I can do this, damn parts are back ordered there's another week, yada, yada. Wow I can't believe its been two years already.

You also know better than anybody life jumps up and bites ya. Finances, health issues and all, but even when you where down ill your still by our side helping us along. Or in my case motivated to get to my build. Not to mention the indepth instruction and product info you bring to the table.

So I say thank from us all.

Oh and if it helps we are finally putting paint on my dads stearman. We tore it down when I was 12. I turn 41 this April.

it just seems I'm the one who gets chided around here for it... it's happened in the past, and I always seem to be the target of it...

I've done the "keep it on the road at all costs" many times in my life, my CC will be like that.. I did it with the K5 for 4 yrs till I felt it was a good time to go for a couple yr build... yes, my propensity for over the top projects pushed that time frame off a bit, but it certainly wasn't for lack of effort or time invested...

Dave and I have mentioned it, I wont use the word "burnout", but the time and funds invested was pushing me to a breaking point... physically and financially.... the need to build a DD/towrig came as a blessing for a needed interval to the build..

I have no doubt I will finish the K5, but I will do it on my time frame with no remorse... thanks to all for the compliments.... :D

Get off the interweb and get back to work Paul, back to your dungeon:D:D:D:D:D

LOL my truck has changed shape some over the last several years but some of the parts I am using were the original parts I started with a long time ago.

I fear for the day Paul when you get out there wheeling your stuff and start changing stuff again.

Now all of ya back to work on your trucks

Now all of ya back to work on your trucks[/quote]

Yes Dear.

Besides Paul cant finish the build till he hit the 1M veiw mark. I think this is a well planned scheme.:haha:

And if he did finish what would we all have to look at? What more time for us in the Louge or the Pen. I say ney build away brother, and help us keep our minds out of the gutter.
