I need advice to BLAZE UP my 71

You live much deeper into Bothell than me. I'm just off Juanita-Woodinville in the Carlyle Neighboorhood. My studio is on Northup in Bellevue. My truck isn't running properly right now so I haven't been driving it. I gotta get back out there and see what is happening. The tranny isn't shifting into third. I just rebuilt it and I must have something set up wrong.
 
Tranny isn't shiftin into third? DOH! thats a bummer! Is your tranny a TH-350 or SM465? I saw the company page you made...it looks real good!
 
It's a TH350. I blew the reverse sprag the summer before last. It took me a long time to get it rebuilt and I still don't have it working right. I'm thinking about just buying a rebuilt and selling off the "K" case.

Your truck looks like a beast! You've got your work cut out for you if you want to put a door back on it. It might be easier to get a new tub and put it on there. I know that there is a local board member selling a tub. Check the 4 sale board.
 
By the way, Pickups Northwest is down by the Snohomish Airport. They can get just about anything and there's no shipping if you pick it up!

If you head up the road from Snohomish toward Woodinville, there is a body shop on the left with an nice looking red K5. I haven't stopped yet to see what the deal is but it has been sitting for quite a while. It used to be out front but now it is around the back.
 
After I put the 2" body lift on my truck I had the gap between the bumper and grill that we all know and love(well, not love). I ordered a winch bumper for my truck and asked the manufacturer to make the mounts to compensate for the body lift so the gap would dissapear. Heres a pic but the bumper is kind of hard to see.

I swapped out my rusted/broken drivers door for a new aftermarket pickup door from Goodmark. I think it was a couple hundred bucks, but I couldn´t find a used one that wasn´t hashed. I cut off the window frame using a cutoff blade in my die-grinder and my old door for measurements. As Steve Chin mentioned, the reinforcement plate must be transfered over to the new door. It helps to reinforce the door at the latch mechanism when the truck body flexes at the door openings. The only complaint I have is that the door is slightly different above the reinforcement plate which causes a tight fit with the door jam in one place.

Yah bouncy, i know what your talkin about. Once you said RED First Gen, i knew exactly where on HIway 9 it was at. I'm gonna drive on up there sometime soon when its warm and i can take my top off. For some reason cops dont have a tendancy to pull me over when my top is off, along with my door not being there. (???) I wonder if they will sell me a tub....i'm scared my seat will fall through my truck one of these days its soo bad.

Aaron, I know I need to stop by your place some day, soon. I should be able to limp my truck through the neighborhoods to get to your place. I'm about to give up on this transmission and just buy a rebuilt. I hate to do that because I've got so much $ into this one. I really don't want to tear it down and rebuild it - again. I haven't even started my truck since halloween - mostly due to the new baby...

Hopefully it will be a nice day and I can wash the ol beast. That OL' Ladie traded that chev for an Envoy? How SAD DUDE! that truck is the dope RIDE! I read the article that they put in there magazine....she was sayin some stuff like "I can use the truck to haul stuff" ???????!?!?! I guess she got tired of climbing into it. Aaron congrats on your phat truck dude...its sweet. But whats up with the flames/pinstripes? i forgot what it had on it but i knew there was some other then just a plain phat white truck.

Better Gas mileage then the NEW CHEV huh? LOL! I think my blazer gets around 4 MPG.....it smells like the mixture is really strong. Either that or its the exhuast cut right after the H pipe to sound cool. It had some crappy quiet mufflers at 2 1/4 and really didn't fit the personality of my truck so i CUT them off. My truck is sure loud...but its a filthy loud, not a good loud. I will put the 2 1/2 on there when i get the money and hopefully it will be sweet. Question....Everyone has flowmasters, and the sound of the muffler is not "throaty" enough, any suggestions of a nice deep loud sound?

Try swapping in a Big Block......nice deep sound!!!! Even with 3-Chamber Flowmasters....
