I need help fast....what is your stock fan belt length

Ok ...I just purchased a new belt today and fried the altenator....Went back to the parts store and got another one with a new belt...fried another.....whats going on....the tensioner seems fine....the belt that came of is a 96 inch belt but all the parts store books call for a 95 inch belt....help please...store closes in 2 hours and I cant afford another altenator....I dont have asmog pump either if that helps....

Something doesn't sound right/forums/images/icons/frown.gif.......Your tensioner automatically takes up slack and 1" of slack over a 95 inch span is really nothing....

You've got me.........is there a chance you knocked something loose that's shorting the alternator(s) out?
