well after many many months of looking for one, i finally found an alluminum air deflector for the rear of my k-5.
wel ok, i just got lucky, went down to the junk yard this morning to pick up a door and they were towing in a burb, and it had one on it. I quickly claimed it before it was even un-hooked of the truck. ...they even gave it to me for free :)

anyways i need some pics from those of you who have air deflectors. can i get some pics taken from the side, and the top. that way i can get a general ideal of where to mount mine....

if its possible and not to much to ask..pics with a tape measure in them would be great, so that i can get measurements..

thanks.

Sorry, didnt have a tape measure when I first took the pics. If you need any more pics or measurements, let me know.

If you need more go to ebay Item number: 120014337747 why not just go back and measure on truck you got it from?

well the one i got looks exactly like metrodps's..since it was off a burban, and i'm putting it on a k5, wasn't sure if the measurments i got of the burb, would transfer to the k5, because the tops are different.

whats the purpose of that thing anyways?

it redirects some of the air going across the top of your rig, and pushes it down on the rear window. which helps to keep the window clean on dusty roads/snow/sleet/rain etc..also if your rig is like mine with the exhaust pipes comming straight out the back, it keeps the exhaust fumes from comming inside the rig when driving with the back window down.:wink1:

I got the same problem but with diesel fumes. I have been wanting a deflector for a while now. What type of hardware are you going use to mount it to the top?

I have one doesn't work very well for exhaust. I always have that damn thing up

First one pictured isn't stock, so don't worry about the different mounting.

They mount to the Suburban and K5 the same way (roof lines are the same there obviously) so the measurements should be right on.

Another option (what I did) was just find another top that had one on it.

You use well-nuts to fasten it to the top.

BTW...you can get the well nuts at True Value, but they go under another name....flare nut or something another. Don't recall what it was exactly.

Do those really work good? Im getting sick of an always filthy back window on my S10 Blazer from gravel roads

My deflector seems to work OK. I never have any dirt or muck buildup. Never had it off, so I couldnt tell you any different.

sorry to hijack but do any of yall have like a grease on the backs of your trucks? it looks like dark water spots. would this deflector help that?

sounds like to me, you have a leak somewhere. when my rear output shaft was leaking i would get the little "dark water spots" on my tailgate. as you travel down the road the "drip" gets flung off and the sucked up onto the tailgate..

i would check for leaking fluids first. as for would a deflector help theis from not happening...i suspose its possible.

The deflector works. I added one on my burb. Before, the back window had to be cleaned daily. It was so bad by the end of the day, I couldn't see out of it anymore.
