I need to remove the alternator.

I have to take the alternator out of the truck for testing. Either I smoked it when I hooked something up wrong (I don't think I did this) or I had some cute and fuzzy forest creatures climb in there to nest. In any case, when I hooked up my new battery a while ago, the alt smoked and nearly caught fire.

I have to pull it to get it tested. Is there an easy reference guide or something like that so I can figure out what the heck to do?

V belts?

One bolt up top for tension, one long one on the bottom that it pivots on. Take those off, and the wire connectors.

maybe unhook battery,so you don,t ground while removing wire.

Take pics before you take it off, and you should have a repair manual
If you don't.
Battery off first, back on last.
