I now understand the Jeep thing

I have had several Jeeps and currently have one. I think that it is a bunch of B.S. that we can't all focus on the fact that we all love to wheel and if we ALL don't unite we won't have any places to go because they will all be closed down.

I also believe that the Willys MB/Ford GPW "Jeeps" of the 1940's were the foundation for what we drive today and the so called "Jeep thing" is just a matter of respect for the warrior vehicles that made four wheel drives enjoyable to the masses post war (1945) because the men that came back from the war are the ones that originally bought the first CJ-2A's and started this whole "thing of ours" that encompasses ALL off-road enthusiasts. They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery so.......
1936: Suburban introduced though not factory 4WD until late 50's??
1945: Civilian Jeeps introduced.
1947: Jeep Wagons introduced
1960's the Range Rovers, Land Cruisers and Nissan Patrols start showing up on our shores.
LATE 60's BLAZER introduced!!!!!!!
Jeep was way ahead of the game.
So come on can't we all just get along????????
When my buddies and I wheel we all have different rigs outfitted differently because that is what we like as individuals but, we don't talk s#!t about each other's vehicles because we are out to have fun, not to be boners.

So SHUT UP AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!

If I am on a run and I see ANYONE that needs help, I stop and render assistance no matter WHAT they are driving because they are SHARING in a common interest that I sincerely hope is around for my children when they have kids.

Just my $.02 and if I offended anyone, don't cry like a little girl, man up and get a helmet.

Well after about 8 hours of solid wheelin' yesterday I've come to the conclusion that my truck works pretty well and I now understand the Jeep thing.

You could say that I was a little under-trucked considering I don't have a dedicated mud rig with a big block or nasty small block and I don't have 44" Boggers but I still had a good time.

Yeah, so what is the Jeep thing exactly? It sure as hell is not a Full size 1940's military pickup truck. The Jeep thing is dana 30s and broken axles...oh can't forget the fact Jeeps are for girls.

Cool FSJ. Most of the ones I see have been converted to steel roofs by the Forest Service.

Italessi, sweet rig! Being a former Marine, I like the USMC markings on it too. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

that is a prime example of the "jeep thing" mentality
do you really believe that no vehicle on earth was 4 wheel drive until the jeep?
the jeep thing has nothing to do with my outdoor hobby
never has never will
have yet to see a logger driving into the bush in a Jeep

??? did i miss the post someone said it was the first 4x4? i think it could be argued that it was the first MASS produced 4x4. it also brought 4x4 into everyones everyday life. the best at it? no. jeep doesnt make a rig that could log. i havent seen a combat soldier rolling in a chevy in a long time. the m1008, and 1009's are almost all gone.....

So why don't you have one???? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Ford produced the first car in the history of man. Ummm, Fords arent any better than Dodges or Chevys nowadays. Same goes with the Jeep, it was the first mass produced 4x4, that doesn't mean its any better than other 4x4s nowadays.

yes, jeeps are for girls... ill put $1000 bucks on top of my title against your title that you couldnt hang with me on the trails here and my jeep is stock... mostly due to the fact you're an ignorant, uneducated buffoon with vastly damaged viewpoints on most subjects..

"its a wheelbase and skill thing, you wouldnt understand"

back to the original topic..

all vehicles have their strong and weak points... name one vehicle, from a mass produced factory that was purpose built for trails only... you cant do it.. the way a vehicle performs depends on the type of modifications, drivers skill, and all around combination of the vehicles performance..

If you want to put that $1000 against my truck and your title, I'll buy ya a plane ticket home and keep the rest, or you can drive the heep home and I'll take it in 100s, your choice. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Sweet! I would trade the 'Burb in for that....

Just a few to many running around the area. Guess I would feel different if mine was the nicest, or at least the most capable /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

i once owned a 86 bronco 2, one day i had to get into a job site the whole road was about 7 inches of goo, i could barely move through it in 4wheel drive, when i was leaving later that day ,i had to pull off to the side so a front wheel drive buick could get around me, i couldnt beleive tires could suck that bad,( firestone atx) after i got my bfg mud terrains it was a whole different story, but my 4x4 got out performed by a front wheel drive buick,

I think mogas has the right idea. I can wheel with any brand (even Furds /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif), just have your junk ready to wheel. Oh, and that Marine Kaiser is sweet, and the Cummins just makes it sweeter!
