well im guessing time for a weld in kit huh..
I know it is due time for me as tonight I was firing the old beast up and realized that I have a clunk when I rock the wheel.... and my bud looked and said the frame is all kinds of flexing!!!!!!

It doesn't look like he used any tools to pull that off...as in "I was turning the steering wheel and pulled the damn steering box clean off the frame."

Oh it was one of those self uninstall type steering boxes. gotcha. lol

Once upon a time you could get a weld on frame patch kit for this but I have no idea if its available ive put three on in the past.

so do you have xover steer? I just realized yesterday that my frame flexes sideways... and wondering if that will crack my frame eventually....
still cant turn on the rocks with 44s,crossover and hydro assist...full hydro is a much better solution for what im doing/running

so that didnt even help with less stress on the frame!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR
as far as im concerned, it puts MORE stress on the frame with x-over. Steering geometry is better, but it seems to have more leverage against it. Either way, its going to crack at some point...big tires, small tires...whatever. If its driven, itll crack.
i was just trying to figure if the hydro assist would help reduce the frame flex but this proves that it really does not, thus yes I can upgrade to hydro assist for ease of turning (which I dont have a problem with right now) and can still expect a cracked frame...

well, yes hydro assist removes stress from the frame...you just initially asked about crossover. crossover alone adds stress from loading in a different direction, adding the hydro assist cylinder removed alot of stress from that area because the ram moves the wheels and the ram is mounted to the axle, the box then only acts as a valve to make the cylinder extend or retract. so pretty much if you are going to do crossover you should definately do hydro assist. make sense?

Crossover steering adds stress to the frame both because it has less leverage than the stock steering and because it loads the frame 90 deg. from the way everything was designed (i.e. it wants to rip the box from the frame rather than load the box more in shear).
Hydro assist takes a substantial load away from the frame.
i cracked my frame with the bolt on brace kit that is what probly saved me so i limped home and wellder the frame and added the weld on kit then but back on the bolt on brace so far so good but a full hoyero kit is on my wish list
