That parts store is bomb. Their prices are good, they ship fast, and they always have what I want. I couldn't find e-brake cables locally, so I ordered them off of RockAuto. The local Summit Racing store was going to be 3 weeks! I said nope, and logged on to RA. They shipped the part same day, and I'll have it middle of next week. :waytogo:

Agreed, but their website could use some work. They have a lot of things that are impossible to locate. Like, the spanner socket thing for setting ball joint preload. Ordered my moog bj's from them (wish i could order other bj's from them :haha:), and went to napa and overpaid to special order the spanner socket cause i couldnt' find it on their website.

Besides that, :thumb:

Order stuff for BMW's from them too, often have different suppliers that the bmw specific places, and some parts its worth the savings. Paid $35 for a brand name clutch slave, when i would have paid $150+ from a bmw place :woot:

I've never looked for tools on their website. I really like the layout for finding car parts though! Super easy/simple to follow.

Have only look for specialty tools like that, that i would get at a parts house.

my first order with them got screwed up, it arrived $5.xx postage due...I sent it back.

Not giving up, I've heard too many folks say good things about them. I'll wait 'till I have a larger order...

anyone can have a bad day, particularly this time of year.

They do have cheap prices, but I've heard their shipping is kind of iffy--a customer of my friend insisted on buying a fuel pump & sending unit from them instead of locally, after he found out they were over 100 bucks less, but he got someone elses order a week later,a box of brake shoes, that belonged to a guy in michigan, not massachussetts!..he had to send them back and it took another week for him to get his fuel pump, but he wasn't that upset, saving 100 bucks was worth waiting he said..

My friend does bussiness with many different parts suppliers, and can get pretty much anything for a lot less than a walk in customer--one day he called all around looking for a part,no one had it in stock, his customer said "I can get it from Rock Auto"--he said only if thats the last resort--he calls one more store and the guy who manages it said I can get that part in 3 days, for ten bucks more than Rock Auto will charge "--so he said "get it"--a few days later when the part came in,he noticed it CAME from Rock Auto!!--evidently parts stores shop there too!..the customer was a bit miffed, unhappy about "losing" the 10 bucks to a greedy parts store!...

I noticed they had wheel cylinders there for my truck on "closeout" for 3 bucks and change!...been looking up other stuff there for my car,I have yet to order anything from them, but might...I dont trust giving my visa numbers over the internet ...

Really? In 2011? Not trying to be a dick, but check your cardholder agreement . I bet you are more than protected from unauthorized purchases....

Only had one problem a while back, one of the parts I ordered was wrong. Gave them a call and the right part was at my door 2 days later. They even let me keep the wrong part.....If anyone needs a upper ball joint off a 68 Fairlane, give me a call.:D

I haven't ordered anything from them, but I use their site to look up part numbers for interchanging stuff, and checking part numbers before I go somewhere local.

I've ordered lots of parts from RockAuto over the years. I don't know they sold specialty automotive tools. Where is that on the site?

I've ordered at least 25 different orders totaling more then 3000 dollars worth of business. I have not yet had a problem getting correct parts. I love how fast they ship and how quick the site is to look up parts for vehicles. I agree their tool part needs some work.

I like them.. but yes their web site sucks and is dated
I love their web site because of all the parts cross reference data. When I sell used parts on eBay I just copy/paste the exchange list from RockAuto and put it in the listing. Plus I currently have dial-up at home and rock auto has a basic html mode which makes it the only auto parts web site that is useable.

I love buying stuff from them. If its something I know I will need in the future I usually get it from them now.

Stuff I need ASAP I have to go buy somewhere local unfortunatly.

They do a lot of warehouse closeouts and drop shipping. And they work on high volumn-lower profit margin.
This plus no storefronts to own/operate/lease.

I've ordered LOTS of stuff from them in the past 5-6 years and they've been great. Once or twice I got something wrong and they made it right. Once it was my fault and they still worked with me so that I lost the least in the deal. They're also good about changing orders after they have been placed but before they have shipped. HINT-Call their 800 number for that.

My buddy ordered belts for his Kia and we got one belt that was totally wrong. However someone had just transposed a couple numbers on the Goodyear part number when they pulled it. RockAuto for sure would have made it good but he sat on it. For some reason it's still sitting in my garage.

They're pretty good for NOS manufacturer parts too. ACDelco and Motorcraft come to mind. I've bought a decent amount of NOS ACDelco parts from them for good prices.

Prices get even better when they buy stuff from other company's warehouse closeouts and then sell them super cheap. Bought some $40 ACDelco shocks for The Blazer for about $20 each two years ago.
If you register for an account with them and put what vehicles you have on it then they will occasionally send you emails notifying you of warehouse closeout parts that are available for your vehicle.
Now if one of those emails would show up when I have money AND remember what I need.
