I screwed up..

mine got put in with the help of a ratchet strap hanging from the interior roll cage.

I cant find the 3 ton but this one would work..the low pro is not as important as the long reach IMO

I’m thinking I might order this one. 3 ton with a 20” reach and I know the cup comes off for $73. It’s probab crap but at this point if it will work for this one project, I don’t care. I’ll buy a good 3 ton later.

Just be careful, and remember even grade 8 bolts 3/8" thick can bend if you let the transmission "hang" from them, you want them to just be guides, not weight bearing--letting it sag or shoving it around with too much force could crack the ears off the bell housing....so a floor jack that adapter will work with is pretty much a must..

My transmission adapter also wasn't able to be "tilted" simply by turning the knobs on the threaded "tilter" device,I had to push up on the transfer case or transmission a little to get the load off the thing ,then I could turn the knob--not a fun job alone lying on your back, but it was the only way I could get it to tilt ...

Shoving the transmission back in was the hardest part,I had to lie under the truck with my head touching the rear diff and use both legs to try and shove it forward evenly, while grabbing the frame rails with my hands--after I got it close to the engine I had to resort to kicking it to get it all the was flush with the engine block & dowel pins....and I had to keep adjusting the "tilt" and height on the jack to keep the transmission and transfer case from going crooked..

There are other ways of doing it too--if you have an engine crane and a removeable "tunnel" you can use the crane to hold the tranny up and use a ratchet strap or come-a-long to pull it back far enough to get at the flex plate bolts..the legs on the crane are right in the way underneath though,to make it more difficult...neither way is "easy"unfortunately..
I just did this a couple months ago with my harbor freight engine hoist. But I went through the tcase shifter hole. The hoist legs were all up in my personal space but wasn't bad. Got it done pretty quick by myself and I haven't wrenched on anything in 20 years. I think your making more out of this than you need. I wouldn't think you need to pull the tranny back very far for what your doing. Just need a good jack and some patience for turning your flex plate and bolts. Don't forget to support your engine too for the angle on re-entry.

I've had the trans out of my rig like 6 times now and made it work until this last time. Picked up one of these

Now I'm just pissed at myself for not doing it sooner. No more stacked blocks, ultra pucker factor, red-faced cursing. Came out super easy, went back in almost effortlessly. It almost felt like cheating. Then I used it the next weekend to take the gas tank out of the wife's cj7. Totally worth the $.

Yup. That’s how I did my last trans swap. I ended up having to weld a hitch to my hoist to get the last like 6” of reach I needed.

Well, this isn’t happening till I get use of both hands! I tried getting started on it today, pulled both driveshafts and starter (needed to be replaced too) and it was all I could do just to get that stuff done by myself with a busted wing. Thanks for all help though! It’s going to have to wait till warmer weather and better mobility.. it does start a lot better now though but I can still hear that flexplate making noise.
