I think I focked up pretty good...(Pics)

Hey whats the point in having a truck if your just gonna leave it in the driveway and armorall everything. It has 4 wheel drive for a reason.:pimp1::pimp:

Here is what I would do .
1. pressure wash that engine bay (I have seen worse but take pride in your ride)
2. I would replace all belts and hoses
3.Replace the intake gasket and thermostat gasket .
If you clean the engine it will run a degree or two cooler
Also flush the radiator and power steering

x2 Nothing wrong with making your truck look good. And Hey I wheel and look good while doing it ;)

If the alternator belt wasn't on...chances are the water pump wasn't turning...same belt on that year I think.

Edit:You may have overheated it, and antifreeze was boiling over.

If it overheated enough where it was boiling over... you would know.

funny, i busted an alternator belt on my WAY to work yesterday... mine has the short serp-style belt, and another one around the water pump and the power steering pump... glad it had that...

what color fluid is on the floor when you stopped...? i know when my truck is off and i crank the wheel one way or the other i get fluid to come out the cap of my reservoir...

are we seriously busting a guy's balls over how clean his engine compartment is? some folks on here need to finish doing their make-up and get out the door to go push some papers.

was the moaning a low steering-type moan, or a belt squeal moan? i think the most reasonable answer is from iceman. replace those belts and see if that does the trick.

No wonder mine was so clean...nice come back grasshoppa!

:haha: Hurry up and get back from PR so we can go wheeling sometime and change that..

I think it was a low steering type moan because it got louder and wheel vibrated when I turned... of course I guess it could be a belt too... I really dont know

So I bought the belt but I dont know how I should go about putting it on.. I looked on google and most of that talked about a tension bolt but I dont think I have one of them bad boys, So then I thought about just loosening the alternator but I dont know. Enlighten me :wink1:

That bolt should be on your alt....loosen it and the alternator will go right to left to adjust the tension

I don't see any other way other then using the alternator as your tensioner. Be careful though... It's not hard to strip one out. Make sure you use a lock washer also. I just had my belt flip over in my boat becaue the bolt rattled loose.

look at your pics...on the alt. you can see a bolt that goes thru the alt bracket and has a long slot...loosen that bolt push the alt to the right(if yo are looking at it)...put your belt on...push it back to the left...tighten bolt...done!
