Dont know if I stumbled upon something or it was happy accident or what. Ive been chasing various water leaks with my Blazer since I got it 10years ago.

One spot was on passenger side, The vent/vacuum thing by the kickpanel wasnt sealed against the body well, so I replaced the seal and made sure the screws were good and tight. This cured ONE of the many leaks. I never had a heater core leak, thanks god, but I did replace it about 8 years ago.

Anyways.was still getting a few drips inside passenger side and was getting a lil bit in driver side as well. If you look at the pic below, there are two "gutters" so to speak that ive highlighted, amazing enough, the passenger side dumps right into where the heater core is, so I sealed that up with puddy I get from work. No more leak.

Was still getting leaks in drivers side, I pulled the dash so I could see if it was the windshield or the cowling. It was too low to be the windshield, so looked at cowling and dumped water into it and got no leak. I started thinking about the "gutter" , sure thing, there is one on the drivers side and it dumps very close to the fuse panel (firewall side) and the Brake peddle assembly bolts. The bolts were tight and didnt look like anything was compromised, so I just got Rubberized Under coating and sprayed this area , except the actual wires going into fuse box, but I sprayed the edges of fuse panel and the bolts for peddle assembly.

We have had some major rains and I have yet see a leak. I made no other changes or adjustments to the truck, other than spray undercoating. No leak and with the rain, prior to me spraying, it wouldve leaked inside.

Anyways. dont know if this would work for anyone but if it helps one other person, ive done my job. lol.

Nice work sir, now about those speakers..............................

:doah:I gave up on that project for now..there is no "GOOD" solution, ill probably just get some wake board speakers and mount them on the roll bar and call it a day. Some sound is better than no sound, lol

Nevermind..we had a pile of rain today and checked out the interior and had water...It still seems to be coming form the bolts that hold brake peddle assembly to firewall..I really cant see "above" that point or any water,,its gotta be getting in from somewhere. Im outa ideas.

Pull off the cover that's over the wiper linkage area and spray a bunch of undercoat in there. I've seen too many vehicles where that area is rusted and leaks. Also make sure the drains for it are clear of build up.

The cowl/firewall seam is notorious for having the factory sealer dry rot out and start leaking. That's where i had a LOT of water coming into my truck. I also had a lot of rust in that area too. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about:

I know where your talking about and have investigated that area. I even got some of the original "puddy" that goes in the cowling area a few years ago..One area that is impossible to really see, is where the fender and cowling all come together. Just below the rear hood hinge..Id like to avoid pulling the fender...but it might come to that.

You don't have to pull the fender as you still can't access that area you're talking about behind the fender. The only way is to reach your arm into the cowl and do your best mash some sealer down into that seam.

I've given serious thought to making a cowl cover to block the openings under the cover to prevent the water intrusion issue from ever happening.

where does the cowl drain? We Have had 3 and a half inches in 3 days and my driver side dash is dripping water.

Best I can guess is some where between the cowling, fenders and door,,that bermuda triangle area..ive thought about yanking the fender, unless someone has a fender removed pic with cowling removed so we can see whats around there.

cowl drains each side . it just dumps down and out .

there can be junk that plugs it up also .

near the bottom of the cab were the lower fender bolt pinches to the cab / tab there is a drain slot on both sides . check to see if there backed up or pluged .

its a huge air chamber in both sides were the cowl vents in the cab at the kick panels get there air from .

wish I had more pics in my 2wd build thread as I cleaned / resealed / under coated the hell out of mine in this area.

the exits are down behind the bottom of the fenders.....

Thanks for the pics, but it still doesnt show where the water comes out at. lol Anyone do close up?

here's the best I coud do in a hurry.. fenders are on all my rigs.. I snapped this off the k5, couldn't find anything in my whole photobucket that showed the area...

blue is the hole.... green is the lower door hinge bolt into the door... ignore anything down low as I have intergrated sliders...

pink is the vertical pinch weld.. ignore white, that's the bolt for my cage flange...
