broke a front 10b in 91 burb...went to salvage yard & they didn't have any 8 lug 10b...i thought i had read 1/2ton was the same except for rotors out...i pulled 1 out a mid 80's 1/2 ton, got home & tore my burb front apart, then tried putting the axle in & it wouldn't fit. i counted splines & my burb is 30 spline, the 1/2ton axle was 28....??? is it a 1/2 - 3/4 ton difference or yr model difference?

Difference of the year range... I've freely swapped 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton axle shafts into my 8 lug 10 bol

Yep when pickups changed body style they gave the ten bolt "stronger" shafts as its last hoorah. Honestly a waste though they still neck down the same amount.

Yep. You're going to need '88 and newer front shafts. And in around 1989 the 10-bolt rear axles went to 30-spline too.
