I want a soft top i dont have to drill i really like the skyler top but it says they closed up... i would like some pics of a skyler up close so i might can duplicate the bracketry and maybe build my own. what do you guys got?

Somebody else makes those same tops now, can't seem to find their name in my brain at the moment.

no one sells one that you do not have to screw to the truck?.... maybe its time to fabricate my own.. i just really want something i can throw on in a hurry if i get caught in the rain. once home i can re install my hard top

boat cover

there are lots of shops that make custom boat covers. Perhpas you could make a simple frame (or chop up a beater hard top?) and take it to a boat shop and have them sew you up one.

How much do you think a boat shop would charge to make one of those, cause for me i could build some brakets no prob

some may argue, but marine stuff is my biz... not usually very cheap.. those guys charge a bunch.. i'd say if you had a frame, for material and labor, probably 600 to a grand... depending on if you did isenglass, etc.

I love my STC fasttrack... Pretty sure your gonna have SOME drilling no mater what avenue you take...

but how hard is it to swap back to the hard top and what do you do with the soft top when its down? is if folded and out of sight or does it just wad at the back like a top on a horse and carriage

well, first of all, the fastracks aren't being made anymore...

horse and carriage.... haha..... it folds back and is wrapped around the frame...

I have no need to "run" home and put a hardtop back on.. been running around for 10 months with the softtop on.. heck, until I blew my tranny, I was gonna run thru the winter with it... Tho I am garage kept which helps...

it'd take 1/2 hr, 45 minutes to pull the softtop and put the hardtop on... gotta pull all the tracks off...

yeah thats my trouble i like the hard top better i just wanted an quickie if i got caught in the rain. i'll just see about somekind of fab job something i can fold up and lay in the back. thanks for your help

Here's what one of the guys from out here in CO did.

New soft top pics
Just picked this up on Saturday from a local upholstery shop. Uses my roll cage for support and had to be custom made since the cage is above the windshield frame and has many strange undulations in it.

On the windshield frame a piece of J channel was attached with screws and some relief cuts made near the sides to allow it to bend with the shape of the windshiled frame. On the tailgate we attached a piece of 2 by 1 aluminum angle with 5 screws on the inside of the tailgate and attached snaps to the top of it for the back flap. The sides are held down by using pickup topper clamps 4 on each side and where the side meet the top of the bed rails it rolls under to the inside and buried in a pocket is a piece of 1/4 inch thick by 2 inch wide piece of aluminum that runs the length of the bedside. Those are velcro'd in at the tail gate end and are removeable for storage so the top can be rolled up. There are a couple snaps on the sides of the windshield frame to get a good fit and the area around the front windows is left with a gap around the windows and then there is a neoprene peice that velcros on the inside of the top to give a good seal around the window itself.

The back flap has zippers and snap straps so it can be rolled up and left open.

Not bad for just over $500.00 bills
