Kept having the passenger rear tire go low on me. Had it fixed twice and got another nail/something. Kept putting it off as I was wanting to get new tires. Finally got to the point it would barely hold air long enough for me to make the 8ish mile drive to work and went flat on me. So I threw the spare on and kept meaning to get new tires. Was moving my mother and driving a U Haul while the fiancé was following me in my burb. The spare blew out on her. Luckily we were in town and she wasn’t going very fast. So she was able to get pulled over fairly quickly. We limped it to the gas station that wasn’t far away, got my mother moved, then grabbed two tires that had been on my 89 burb when I was daily driving it several years ago, one was the spare on a steel rim and one was on the Outlaw IIs or whatever so I put the steel rim on.
I really started looking at getting tires now, should’ve done it long before this. Finally pulled the trigger and talked to a buddy that can get them. Just waiting on them to come in.
Went and mowed my moms yard a few Saturdays ago and had another blow out from the spare I put on…. this time it dented the rear quarter panel, messed up the factory steps, ripped off the fender flare, probably scratched the side of the burb, busted the rear door handle off and opened the door when it busted the handle off.
Luckily I still had the other tire in the back and was able to get it changed and off the side of the road.
So I messaged my buddy about my new tires. He forgot to order them.
He got them ordered and I finally got them put on last Thursday.
Just went back with 285/70R17s again but went with BFG ATs in a load range E. I wish I went bigger but that would mean I’d need more lift. Lol. I’m hoping to make it at least one more year with the burb and then the boy should be out of high school and that would free up some money for momma and I. Then maybe we can look at new/newer trucks. So for now the 285s will serve their purpose. The burb does have a leveling kit and I might lift the front another inch and do a Zero Rate block in the rear just for another inch of lift. Tires don’t rub right now but they are close. I might pull the factory steps off also and get something like the N Fab steps but idk for sure.
