My 84 suburban. It Started life as a Reservation Police unit, I picked it up and built it up. 6.2L diesel, 35s on 15" wagon wheels, sm465 4spd, 205, HD 8 lug D44 external flange warn premiums, 4.10s 14bolt ff Locked, front air bumper and on-board compressor for air. Lots of camping in it.

Not sure if I posted already in this thread or not...don't feel like going thru all 40 pages,so I'll risk a re-post..

This is my '85 K10 Suburban,6.2, with a sickly 700R4 that I was told loses reverse at times and wont go in overdrive most of the time, 3:73 gears, has a 12 bolt rear that appears factory...was from Washington state originally, was almost mint & rust free when I got it 10 years ago,but I never got it registered or drove it ,life got in the way..

I got a nice Diamond plow for it and installed it,then never used it --it had never had a plow up until I got the truck..

Now its rockers are gone, and the truck got completely buried under a huge snow drift in 2015,when it all melted,it went into the doors and the floors are probably rusty now, doors and wheel arches are bubbling up now..undercarriage still looks like new though...the dual exhaust that was nearly new when I got it doesn't look like it'll stay on it long if I started driving it though..:(
Tailgate was rotted bad,but I have a decent spare I found cheap on CL to replace it..(would like the Burb a lot more if it had barn doors )..PICT0054.JPG PICT0017.JPG PICT0055.JPG

I may end up putting it on the road, since my pickup now needs a ton of major repair, but so will this truck after it sat 10 years..not sure if its worth the effort & expense now..

Yeah, especially in MA and New England --where they add tons of road salt to ensure nothing lasts more than 10 years without turning back into iron ore..:(...
This truck hardly saw any winter here though, just sitting still the climate here destroys anything made of metal--or wood..

My 89 shortly after purchase. It served the daily driver purpose for a few years while I worked on my 90.

It started having a lot of problems so it got parked and is slowly becoming a crawler.

My 90 The day I got it in 2012. I drove it a few weeks and then decided it needed an altitude adjustment. I had a k5 that was destroyed from wheeling it and rust. So I bought an 87 one ton for the cab and other parts to swap onto the k5 frame. I pulled the 4 inch lift and 35s off of the k5 and put on the burb. I drove it for a while and the transmission went out. Thinking the easiest/quickest thing for me would be to just order a transmission and not knowing any reputable shops around me. I ordered a transmission from Monster Trans and they had to build it. That was about a 6 weeks process. In that time I moved up at work and making more money we ended up going and buying a newer J&$p. I drove it for a few years and the Suburban just set for a few years. I got a different J&$p and finally after about two years pulled the Suburban in the shop and put the transmission in it. I sold the J&$p and bought a Harley and picked up the 89 Suburban so I could work on the 90 again.

Current picture of the 90. We moved and paid some stuff off, I drove the 90 for a while and was collecting parts to swap in one ton axles. I’m to the point I need rims and tires. Looking at brand new and going 5 to have a matching spare I was looking at about $3k. The wife and we’re talking and decided to look for something newer since I was also working on the crawler and want to start going places.

So we bought an 03 Suburban with the 8.1.

It has a few things cosmetically/interior wrong but so far nothing mechanically wrong with it that I’ve found. I bought it about 200 miles from the house and drive it home with no issues.

So exactly 12 years later here’s the old burb. Lots more wear and tear. Now sports a 6.0/4L80e out of a ‘06 1 ton and Dana 60’s. The original t-221 is still holding everything together.
