i was just driving home and there was this noise...

I have to have the cardan cv completely rebuilt. the ball was gouged. so im gonna be out just under 200$. pretty good for 3 ujoints installed and new flange, ball kit, and yoke? also would a spacer help to keep the angles not as severe? maybe the shaft it too short? I have a 6 inch lift. how long should to total length be. since they are going to cut the old cardan off and replace it should i go that route and have them lenghten it?

You need to measure from the center of your output shaft to the center line of your ujoint caps on the yoke. Tell them this measurement and they should be able to determine the length of the shaft you need and can retube accordingly.

^^^^^What he said.

I couldn't tell you the length, because with a 205 the configuration is the shortest of any 4x4 setup on our trucks. Mine fully collapsed only measures about 25.5" long from flange to u-joint centerline.

you are rebuilding the front shaft, you definately should get the measurement right. I have heard some people running 6" lifts had to get the front and rear shaft lengthened. To change your front angle, you might have to get a degree shim in there to get the pinion to point up some.

I think there are some shims i put in under the front springs. ill have to look. also I checked the tranny fuild today and its foamy. is this normal? its about due for a filter and fresh fluid but i wanted to know if that s normal

foamy could mean getting hot. It also might mean air in your system. what color is it ?
