I would love to have THIS parked in my driveway

I have driven by that truck 5 days a week for almost a year. I dont think they have come down on the price at all. They are way too proud of all the stuff on that lot

I do get a kick out of the C rating when it's a 4x4 truck. Dude knows everything else about it except the obvious K rating. Oh well. My wife would go for it at half the price. She like the big trucks if they're built well and dressed accordingly(she says too much chrome on a truck makes it look ghey).

Ive acctually been pondering building one of these trucks, been doing alot of research lately. You dont have to spend crazy money if you look around you can find a 03-04 int, ford, chevy for under 10 grand. now there gona be 2wheel drive and be reg cab. and have a long frame. but if your good with a welder and body work you can take a pickup ext cab (or quad cab) from a junk yard and graft it onto the truck. Then get a nice dually bed and shorten the rear frame accordingly and move the rear axle forward and have the drive shaft shortened.
Im currently looking for a 03-04 Int box truck under the 26K gvw
I wana do that front cab and graft in some escalade headlights and do a "Super Escalade HD" The wife said ok my only problem is my garage is not big enough!!!

But in all reality if you did a reg cab and dually bed you could build one for bout 10-12K

Note avoid high mileage cat diesels they need complete overhauls bout every 200-250K and can run over 3K.

Yeah I dont think base housing would let me build one in the driveway:p:. I was recently thinking about doing what you mentioned. Take a regular box truck and convert it to a mega-pickup. At the time I wasnt thinking 4x4 conversion (it would have been my tow rig) but seeing one makes me ponder; could I actually pull it off? I've never welded or done extensive body work, but hell I was able to do an engine swap and two AT to MT swaps just by reading and applying what I got from the Brotherhood!:D

If I stumble on a good deal, I'm going for it. I was going to buy a CC dually to replace the rusty Burb, but now I'm in the market for something that would make my little 1/2 tons look like HotWheels:laugh:.

I know what you mean, my f250 tow rig just wouldnt even begin to compare to a mega hauler! You know that there is factory 4x4 trucks out there but hard to come by. Look for Utility trucks alot of them had the 4x4 setup. Also as a side note, i know the earlier (ie 92 era) Top kicks had the same doors as the 88-96 chevy trucks and the dash was also the same. But most had the crapy cat in it. I was gona get one of them cause you can pick them up for 3-5K only problem is that most have high miles and would require an expensive overhaul +3K. I was told by a couple diesal mech i know to look for the detriots, or cummins.

Lol thats nowheres near enough under that much weight to seriously offroad.

What's your deal with this man? It's a well built, beautiful tow rig...

Guys drop tons of money on 4wd tow rigs all the time just to be prepared (ever try towing a fullsize truck out into the dunes w/o 4wd?) but that doesn't mean they want to go "seriously offroad" them as you put it.

If I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do it right. Rockwells front and rear. Then theres no doubt in my mind that they will not only support the weight, but can handle a little off pavement abuse as well. And since I'm looking for a <26k GVW as a base and its not being used as a commercial truck, there shouldnt be any issues of overloading the axles.:D

Umm What did you wana go rock crawling or something? :haha:
Have you ever seen one of these rigs? I mean seriously? Its not a "extreme offroad vehicle" Now those 8000lb front axles are some serious monsters for a run on a muddy wide open construction site yeah no problems, but to go down a trail i think the axle would be the least of your worries:D

Convert ton, metric (t)pound (avoirdupois) (lb) to ton, metric (t)pound (avoirdupois) (lb) 5511.556190094896
In all reality the 8000lb axle is better than the 2.5ton rockwell.
Plus there designed to go under these rigs.
Just my $0.02

i assume you mean the rockwell axles from a m35a2 "deuce and a half". my understanding is that those trucks are rated for 2.5 tons cross country, 5 ton on highway.

Its the axle that came factory in the truck.. I believe its a Dana 80???

I've seen them referenced as a Dana 135 when reading about them before. I just want a stock one for a tow rig, OK maybe a little lift. I still gotta be able to get it under the fifth wheel trailer.:D

D110 are inthe backs of F450 and F550. so a 135 would be significantly beefy. the fronts are a hybrid for sure. i've looked at the International CXT & MXT 4wds the fronts are very big. I'm not sure i remember what brand they were though. Eaton...maybe/

i was just going by the math 2.5 ton is less than 8000lb. Now rockwells are very well built one of the best. But i would think that it would make more sense to go with an axle that was designed for the truck, it will hold up just fine, & there would be less fabing. Its gona be work either way, but i would think that if you want a 4x4 truck that you should probly just look for one that is already a 4x4. Can you imagine death wobble in one of these bad boys?!
