OK so I have 86 burban with a 4" lift and 35s. I blew the tranny up and am getting ready to put in a new one and do a 1 ton swap. Now I want to put 40s on it, bob it, and roll cage it. My question is should I continue my burban build or abandon it for an ibex build? What do you guys think?

Whats your goal with the vehicle? Are you considering having a buggy and a truck to wheel?

In my mind if you're at the point in wheeling where you think you want a buggy then no level of a built truck is going to make you happy. So my advice would be to build the burb mild and tow duty worthy to trailer the buggy.

Good advice here

The body on the burb is beyond repair so I couldn't even make it a tow rig. I'm just looking at the cost and what I want to be able to do. I love wheeling a full size but I also envy the guys with smaller lighter rigs.

4 seat ibex! seating capacity, light weight, more capable. as long as you've got something to tow it with.

If you are even considering this then the ibex build is what I would do.

Remember this is coming from a guy who has pretty much buggied out his truck and has decided to stick with it for a while.

But the first steel bought for my buggy will be coming up here sooner than later hopefully

Ibex and tow with burb and keep it drive able.

I really like the ibex chassis.

I would like to buy one some day and make a 4x4 dune runner/trail killer.

Pics of the Suburban? I am always amazed at what some people consider to far gone and what others don't.

Tough Call Sir......

The IBEX is a cool project in itself, no doubt!!

I'm a bit partial to the burb build but it will totally depend on your plans and budget...as well as your available time to do it all.

Burb sounds like it will still need work even if you plan to haul a new project buggy to and from trails.

You have a difficult question to answer...

Is this one too, not sure if it has sold yet. I still have my jig table from mine.
