Saw this on Craigslist... can't tell what it is exactly though. Ad says 5.9L diesel and it's in a 1990 IH school bus.

it has an inline pump but that dosent look like a 12 valve cummins.....

1 piece valve cover, 12 valves have 6 individual ones.....

timing cover isnt shaped like a cummins one.....

intake manifold isnt shaped like a cummins.....

injectors are on driver side, 12 valve is on passenger side.....

i got two 12 valves.....

Maybe Iceman will see this and know if it's a perkins... then again, IH probably made their own diesel engines now that I think about it.

The IP is in the right place and the valve cover looks awfull lot like the perkins, I need to take another look at my engine to confirm.

Doing a little looking on the web I think it is an IHC DT360. I can't find any hard specs for power and weight though. They were used from mid 80's up in medium duty trucks and buses.

all mechanical DT engines used the same block.......just bigger bores and strokes......i think the DT electronic engines use a different block....MAYBE.....

I still can't find specs on the DT360 anywhere... but it sounds like it may be the same dimensionally as the DT466 with a smaller bore (and less power).

I just talked to my guy he specializes in Internationnal diesel engines.
He says the DT360 DT466 are pretty much the same engine in different sizes.
No parts interchange but they are mechanically the same.
He says the DT360 is a reliable engine but in stock form can't make the same power levels the cummins will, but he says you can put the Bosh IP with a small mod and you can then do what the cummins guys do
the 360 is discontinued since early 90's but parts are still available.
now how much is this guy selling it for?

It is in a bus for $800.

If you have the space to store the bus I would get it.
Hell if I survive this recession I always wanted to get a bus to build as a camper, I might buy it from you minus engine since I already have an engine :D

I don't have anywhere to keep a bus and it's 200 miles away with a slipping tranny... won't work for me right now. I was mainly just curious about it.
