I'm aligning this new tie rod on the stands with some straight edges and a tape.

What's the ballpark measurement I'm looking for?
I'm running 35s so I made a mark at 17.5" from axle centerline.

Is it 1/8" from front to back of the 35" or is it 1/8" from center to the 17.5" mark?

Thanks for the help.

I use two pieces of conduit ,one larger than the other, with one end of the larger one slotted, so you can clamp them together--so one can slide inside the other, and you slide them apart until they touch the front side of the rotor (or tire,if your checking toe-in on the truck),and use a hose clamp to hold them at that setting.then take the conduit off and place it between the rear side of the rotor or tires, there should be 1/8-3/16" of space left over at the rear..beats trying to use a tape measure if your doing it "on the truck"..

couple pieces of angle iron clamped to the hubs, run a tape. Pretty easy....

I generally won’t set the toe till the vehicle has its tires it’s going to run on it. Because tire size will change your measurements and affect your toe in or out. I’ll ratchet strap a piece of flat bar to both wheels about center and level to the ground. Then hang a tape front and rear. I also build my tie rods so I can rotate it in place to adjust it.
