I'm told it is a 454/sm465 setup. However this transmission has reverse in the "all the way to the right and up" position and not the normal pattern I'm used too. I also have never seen a 454 setup like this. Is this pure 70's stuff on a 454 or is it something else all together? Mainly the intake man looks real short, kinda sunk in look, and I have never seen that little plate bolted on the top either. Overall she is going to need a lot of work. She is a 79 gmc 2wd. Got her to replace my other work truck which is basically dead.

Other than that, she is in kinda rough shape. She has plenty of power and runs good. Stops even better. Body is in decent shape with a bit of rust but nothing horrible. Good truck with a lot of S*** work done on it.

Pure Genius/Pure laziness. This is mounted on the pass side tucked behind the wheel.... No idea why it's there, but the mech pump isnt even hooked up.

From the valve covers...that's a big block. No way to tell if it's a 454 without running the casting numbers or pulling a head. No clue on the trans. I googled a sm420 pattern, but that had reverse to the left and down.

the electric fuel pump is a real good unit . design has been around for a LONG time. started out as a bendix brand pump . these little guys can flow good for carb use at 3.5-4.5 psi average. even have a serviceable filter in the inlet end . also these are not cheep new . 75-100 bucks average price .

stock iron intakes sat real low in the bbc stuff at times. does look funny that low. got to run the casting #'s on the block to be sure . lots of people swap in 366 dump truck motors for reg old bbc stuff. but 366 and 427t are tall deck and require special brackets for alt & p/s pump to go on as the block is .4" taller than std bbc blocks . easy to spot tall deck . extra block section above the water pump at the block . short / reg blocks the water pump will be flush with the head surface and no extra block hight.

It could be a 366...they had low rise intakes ,so did some smog era 454's in the mid 70's...the tranny is a mystery, could possibly be a Clark or maybe a New Process 435,it appears to have a weird bellhousing too,but you cant see all of it in the picture...we parted out a few 70's C60's with a large round SAE bellhousing with Clark trannies, but they were 5 speeds, one was in a school bus,the other a straight job 6 wheeler about 24' long..

T-18 and T-19 is over and up for reverse...motor could be anything from the BBC family. Pic's aren't much help except for valve covers.
