idle issue on an 88 k5

Im gonna keep picking your brain 4x4high lol

My k5 also has a lokar kick down cable that the previous owner had installed when the trans was rebuilt with a firm shift kit and it idles in park at 1000rpm and in drive its around 500-600 with the misfire bouncing it around a little... Should i replace that with a stock detent cable?
And are those about the normal idles?

First if you have a 700R4 it IS NOT a kickdown cable, it's a TV cable and it controls throttle pressure. It's not even close to what a kickdown cable does.

The idle should be 550rpm in drive. There is a procedure for adjusting minimum idle air (this IS NOT the same as idle speed on a carb). I have that procedure if you need it.

Yeah its a 700r4 with a firm shift kit... I saw that it was a lokar cable instead of a regular detent cable and when i did some looking around the lokar inc. website the only thing i saw were kickdown cables so im thoroughly confused lol

Im ok with the idles where they are i just wasnt sure if they were within normal parameters.

Should i switch that detent cable back to a stock one?

Lokar does make a TV cable for the 700R4 so I wouldn't worry much about it unless you're having issues with the trans.
