If I cut here...

Somewhere, somebody has Pete's (yunit) diagram of his trimming he did on his K5. His was the best of all trim jobs I've seen on this site.

Yeah, I've considered going that route, but I don't like the idea of hacking up my rig like that. I'm just trying to get this rust to stop going further up into the fender. I guess eventually I'll have to have some body work done.

Anyway, did you end up cutting all the way up to the inners?

Just wondering , whats the cable lock for?

It is (was) to lock my canopy to the truck so no one would steal it. the wind tore it up anyways. Now I just tarp it with a tarp that covers the entire truck.

Now thats F`ed up !

looks better then the first ideas shown IMO, just cuz it would follow the same angle as stock, just up higher in the fender that is all, but i guess my paint skill suck cuz the angles dont match up and i thought you might get the idea i was after.. either way, to each his own i guess.. just tryin to help out:wink1:

edit: here are the yunit diagrams,

and a thread on ck5 about em':

If you tuck the bumper up high enough to match it should look good. I used the bottom of the tail pan as a guide when I cut mine. Basically find the bottom and cut straight forward.

Later on I added some tube under the quater panel as well.

I think I`ll go with 38377k5`s cut and Badmix`s trim.

not me. I didnt trim or anything, I may have quoted someone else though. :D sorry I cant take undo credit. ALthough Id luv to even up the wheel wells front and back, I just cant bring myself to hack on my truck. While the cut jobs seem pretty good, I havent seen any that gives a "factory" look, most are square cuts, etc.

Do you have any more straight on shots of your rear..um..Wheel wells?
And whats that around the edge? Its like I know what it is I just cant place my finger on it.... hummm :what:

I kinda hate to cut it,but thats section is pretty trashed.

That fender tubing / trim sure looks like a tube fender from the front of a Heep. Don't know for sure but looks that way. Since it has just a small amount of heep "blood" on it does that mean it is no longer a blazer but a Heep.:D

Ok then, the trim that Badmix quoted. It was skigirl who showed it..And 38377K5`s trim job and see if I can get ahold of my cousin long enough to fix the top part.
He used to work at a body shop in Dallas.
The bottom on the drivers side is almost the same, but the top is ok.

Funny thing is now I need to do it again. I sold that one a couple years ago and now I'm back to my '80 with the busted up corner that made decided to that to the '73:doah:

And now I get the old smiley face with the eye roll??? Just calling it like I see it. Doesn't mean they don't look good, in fact if it fits, looks good and does the job I don't care where the parts come from ,I'll put them on. So what's the problem here.:dunno::D

Think about it this way lots of good parts come from stuff other than GM.
examples

XJ steering shaft
Ford Shock Towers
Windstar Fans
and thats all i can think of:doah:

Um... DANA makes some pretty decent parts, or so I hear... And the front axles they make for Fords are a little stronger than ours.
