If I had an early 80s full ton silverado/sierra 4 door dually with a turbo 400 transmission and carburated 454, and drove 8 hours from New Orleans Louisiana to Dallas Texas how many stops I have to make to fill up gas?

PS I drive 5 mph below the speed limit

A truck like that will probably get between 8 and 10 mpg so you will use approximately 65 gallons of fuel so assuming both tanks are full and working properly you will need to stop once for fuel.

You're going to pour fuel out the window with that truck. My 84 dually got 6 mpg loaded or not at hwy speeds.
Assuming your tank switchover valve doesn't work you might need to stop every 100 miles.

I bought a crew cab in Phoenix and drove it to Mobile, it got about 12 mpg's w/ tbi and overdrive running just under 70 mph. Many stops.

Is this one of those games where, if we guess correctly, we win your truck?
I guess twice - once before you leave and another after halfway there.

If you slow down you can count on 8 ish. If you plan for that you should be good.

My suburban (89 tbi 454 3.42 gears turbo 400 31" tall tires ). Gets 10 at 65 at 75 it gets 8.5
