Hi all, new here to the Colorado K5,

This probably has been brought up before but I can't find it in the search;

I would like to convert my 1/2ton 1997 4WD Suburban to 3/4 ton. Changing the rear will be easy, how hard is it to change over the front IFS to 8-lug?

Should I just look for a 6-lug 14bolt? I see them on eBay every once and while.

We have a great new truck/IFS forum and this topic has been discussed many times there.

THe whole 8 lug IFS system uses a different bolt pattern on the frame and basically won't work. Your stuck six lug up front, I would sell the burb and buy a 3/4ton or get an SF14B.

Yep, the front is totally different. I lucked out and literally tripped over a 6-lug 14-bolt SF in an '89 pickup at the junkyard this summer (it even had the correct gear ratio!). /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif So our '94 Sub still has the 6-lug wheels but I don't have to worry about the 10-bolt rear grenading now. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
