My 16-year-old cousin has been bit by the Blazer bug after seeing mine and now he wants one too. There's a nice '78 for sale nearby and I'm going to go pick him up tomorrow (in my Blazer) so we can go check it out. It's got 90,000 miles and has "never seen snow". The guy has it for sale in the paper asking $5500. Supposedly no rust. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. If he gets it I'm making him get on CK5 so he can get some schooling.:D

16:confused: dude, he's going to thrash that thing:doah:

not all 16 year olds drive like asses... but lets face it most do... Well actually alot of men drive like asses... Then again so do women... Then again maybe its just because I live in MA where the Massholes like to drive...

It's all in his mentality, I drive around what people would say a piece of crap but I bet i treat it close to what Graig treats his.

Nice looking K5, keep us updated.

He's a good kid. I had one when I was his age and I didn't thrash mine. My Dad told me when I got my driver's license that I WOULD have a car accident just because that's what happens when you're learning to drive. But to this day I have never had an at-fault accident (knock on wood).

I guess my Dad thought that because he had about three fender benders in high school so he thought I would follow suit. He once rear-ended a dump truck in his '62 Chevy while whistling at a girl. Needless to say he never got her number :doah:

There are alot of bad teenage drivers out there but there are good ones too. I guess we'll see.

He already told me he doesn't want to lift it because it's too original. He wants to garage it in winter. Brought a tear to my eye :o :D

HMM that color looks kinda close to the color of mine, a little lighter though
May be the same color code, the white in the middle could be making it look different. Same year, I don't know if this one's been repainted.

Yeah, make sure you take a magnet when you go check out the vehicle.

You'll be amazed at what you'll find when you test the usual rusted areas.

Craig just needs someone else to do the pic whoring around here. Take some of the heat off of him. Just kidding looks like a nice clean 78, keep us up to date Craig.

ditto on the teenage driver comments....I agree that guys like us probably take better care of our vehicles than most people on the road that drive stuff worth LITERALLY 10x or more than what ours are worth (on paper ;))...

Thats a clean blazer from the pic...

Check VERY closely for signs of rust repair at the top edges of the fenders, at the lower edge just behind each wheel opening, and at the lower edge of the right front fender just ahead of the wheel opening. It seems like GM installed factory rust in those locations back in that era. ;) Bondo and fresh paint can cover it up and make it look great, for a few months... Then the bubbles will start appearing as water seeps into the patches.

Finding a truly rust-free GM truck from that time frame would be just short of a miracle. :eek1:

when i was 16, i washed and waxed my old honda constantly, scrubbed the engine with a toothbrush, and generally cared for it like it was a ferrari. didn't quite drive it like one, though. i wasn't a spoiled punk who whined because it wasn't my dream car. i was glad to have reliable transportation and a back seat (dang horny teenagers :wink1:). maybe your cousin will be mature enough to care for the k5, too.
