I'm too cool for stock tierods

ORD and NWF for sure, there are probably a lot more. The tie rod is just a piece of tubing that's threaded on each side.

Remember that a larger size in tube is MUCH more important in bending strength than the thickness.

Noob Question.Who/What is NWF?What material does/should it be made out of DOM?

Northwest Fab

DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) is a method of producing tubing, its cold worked and receives finer machining than most tubing. It has a higher yield strength than cheaper tube and hence its tougher to bend.

And we're talking about steel tubing here.

Yeah i think i'm gonna go with an 1-1/4 DOM with 7/8ths TR ends. I really dont think I need an 1-1/2 nor do I want heim joints on my daily driver.

Agreed on the heims, I don't run them anywhere on my rig even though its pretty much a trailer queen at this point.

IME, heims wear out in a hurry and there are better options out there; such as the GM tie rod ends, 1 ton sized on all the K-series trucks, designed to be mounted in single shear (which heims ARE NOT), long lasting and super stout.

I think my tie rod is 1.25" .25" thick DOM, its got a little bow to it but it keeps working, I've dropped the front of the truck down on the tie rod a few times (I'm fairly hard on parts). I think I would go with bigger tubing next time (well, next time for me will be full hydro which won't need a tie rod), but it all depends on how hard you use the rig. The 1.25" .25" tie rod has taken a bunch of abuse.

Mmmmm Beef! Mine came from ORD.:D

I have like 100 bucks into this, I bought a foot extra though so that was like 12 dollars I could have saved

1.5" .25" wall with ballstic tube adapter

I still need another RH thread TRE
