No...I'm going to poke a stick through my ears to stop that song from going through my head. Rio...Rio...Rio...I can't make it stop...

At least it wasn't..........

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....

As far as following the letter of the law...give me a break. If you want to have that attitude go investigate the obscure laws in your state and find outIthat in

Arkansas

In Fayetteville, it is illegal to kill any living creature, including insects.
In Little Rock, if a man and a woman flirt with each other in the streets, they could be jailed for 30 days.
A man can legally beat his wife, but not more than once a month.

That's arkansas for ya'. Redneck Mecca. All the redneck's in the world turn to Arkansas once a day, raise a beer & say thanks for inspiring me to wear this mullett proudly. :wink1: :D

When we moved up here we stopped in Little Rock, (which is the capital of the state, thereby making it the most liberal town in AR), at a Wal-Mart & EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the store had camoflage on!! Let me tell you, I am NOT a fashion-minded guy, Hell I don't even brush my hair in the morning. I just hope that my clothes match when I leave for work, so for me to notice the camo everywhere, that's something. :wink1: I'm talking moms, dads, kids, grandparents, whatever. I think I even saw some of the employees wearing blue camo walmart smocks. I thought I was in the twilight zone or someplace near where "deliverance" was filmed. :haha: :eek1:

The cherry on the top however, was while rounding the corner into the electronics department, (to get the walkie-talkies), a little boy about 7-8 blasted right into us to get to his mom behind us, clutching a nintendo game or something & yelling, "Mom! Mom! WWF! WWF!", whilst he was wearing a "Hulkamania" sleeveless shirt to go with his matching camo pants.

You could've said the same thing about any other state & I wouldn't have gone on about this, but the mention of AR always brings this memory back to my mind & I thought I would share.

Bring on the tangent's in this thread!!!

Later,
Buddy

that is pretty bad. i live in a redneck community. population:1000 hahaha i've been known to wear camo and a cowboy hat but haven't watched wrestling since i was like 8. somewhat 16 years ago.
so here's to you Arkansas for making us still look good. lol but to be honest we're not that far apart

Even if an "Inspection Citation" would have been issued would you have lowered it to be in compliance with the law? That was a rhetorical question, I know you wouldn't. You deserve what you get.

Hey, some of us like people like you Randy! Makes keeping the ticket volume up really easy!:D :D

This is the only thing that grabbed my attention in the thread... are you f*cking kidding me? What the cop should have done was pull the P.I.T. manuever on his little punk ass. If you run from a police officer, you lose all your rights immediately in my opinion. Every time I see a police chase come to an end, I wish they would hand cuff them and beat them and then pepper spray their wounds. It pisses me off to no end. They selfishly put other people's lives endanger. The officer was doing his job and you think he deserved to die? F*ck you.

OK, FLAME ON:angry1: :angry1:

THERE IS NO GD REASON ON THE PLANET TO KILL A KID ON A MOTORCYCLE BECAUSE HE WAS EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT AND ELUDING!!!

Responsable law enforcement means you shut it down and catch them another day if stopping them means getting them or someone else killed in a pursuit if all they did was violate traffic law and then get stupid and run.

Now if this was a carjacking or other serious felony I might see risking the chase to protect the public from future harm, but a kid on a crotch rocket getting squirly (sp?) is not public enemy #1. You pit a bike at high speed and they die. May as well just run em over, same thing.

Contrary to popular opinion the PIT manuver is not meant to harm the target - it is meant to be used as a quick and realitively safe way to stop a pursuit with minimal damage or injury. Problem comes when officers who let their emotions get out of control and use the PIT when they shouldn't.

And my duty vehicle is a furd excursion so you can bet I'm not getting in any high speed pursuits!

OK, FLAME OFF:D

I bet Mr. Smartass NEVER exceeded the speed limit in his life :wink1:

hehe, remember this one???
Yoda to the tune of Lola

<H4>I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah
Where it bubbles all the time
like a giant carbonated soda,
S O D A, soda
<H4><H4>I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name
and in a raspy voice he said Yoda
Y O D A, Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>We'll, I've been around but I ain't never seen
a guy the looks like a muppet
but he's wrinkled and green
Oh my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>Now, I left home just a week before,
and I'd never ever been a Jedi before
but Obi-Wan he set me straight of course,
He said, "Go to Yoda and he'll show you the Force."
<H4><H4>Now, I'm not the kind that'll argue with Ben
So it looks like I'm gonna start all over again
with my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>So I used the force,
I picked up a box,
I lifted some rocks,
And I stood on my head,
But I won't forget what Yoda said, he said
"Luke, stay away from the darker side,
and if you start to go astray let the Force be you guide."
Oh my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>He said, "I know Darth Vader's really got you annoyed,
But, you know if you kill him then you'll be unemployed"
Oh my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
so it looks like I'll be leaving Yoda I guess
But I know that I'll be back some day
I'll be making these movies till I'm old and grey
<H4><H4>The Long-term contract I hadda sign
means I'll be making these movies till the end of time
with my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
<H4><H4>Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
(continue to fade) <H3><H3></H3></H3>

My point is this. People take things to the extreme. The popular thought is that the cop was traveling crazy ass fast, chasing for a long period of time and out of control and the bike was a race bike.

Back to my point about overtaking a speeder. Media spin creates reality. "Officer Killed While Pursuing Motorcycle." That headline creates a high speed crash scenario and a fleeing motorcycle in a person's mind.

Unless you've been there and done it...Nothing else to say..:deal:

Now back to the 2 most important parts of this thread...I'm going to poke a stick through my ears to stop that song from going through my head. Rio...Rio...Rio...I can't make it stop...

And, what's it going to take to get the truck out? Any tickets issued, like for "Unsafe Vehicle" or "vehicle Lift Too High?"
You are right, people do take things to extreme, and it usually is twisted by a bunch of twisted preconcieved notions. Whether we want to believe it or not, we all have em.
"popular thought" doesn't make it right. So many people have had (what they percieved to be) bad experiences with police, they begin to think all cops are bad. Humans have the innate ability to see themselves as being "right," no matter what...they naturally villify the "other side," whatever that may be.
This kid did whatever he did, may have been a traffic violation, dunno, never heard the whole story...he made his choice....when the officer saw him and gave chase, yeah, he made his choice too.....now whether you want to admit, believe, whatever, he was doing his job, that the people of that municiplality had sworn him to do...and he was doing it the best that he saw fit....I haven't read a synopsis of this case, haven't heard anything about it other than what I've read here, but I do know that once a pursuit is started, one of the hardest things in the world to do is terminate it. I've been in em, and conditions change FAST. All it takes is one small mistake, BY ANY OF THE INVOLVED parties, and the only outcome is tragedy. Been on both sides of that one as well. Been in a major trauma unit for a week or so due to one...thankfully I was the only one hurt...BUT, either way, when you decide to run from the cops, as "innocent" as it may be, lives hang in the balance. Yours, the cops, everyone else on road and along the route...EVERYONE! There are two sides to every story, we all know that..the average person wants to picture a cop hell bent on catching a lowly speeder, endangering lives "in his Tahoe" as has been pointed out here....but ever thought about the other side of it? What about the cop that gets complaints about the speeding bikes every day, yeah, heaven forbid he try to do his job or anything.. See, Bubba Ray, I can play both sides of the field! j/k, man,I of all people undestand your point from earlier, I just see far too much "because I can," mostly from the younger guys...besides, I'm still pissed at ya for changing your avatar from the Spidey doing the Napoleon Dynamite...what were ya thinking?????Yall, I'm sorry this whole reply really doesn't make any sense, but I am about half drunk....and realizing that I have to get up at 4 am to go to work...move along, nothing to see here....

Just trying to show some state pride for a state that doesn't hardly even recognize the area that I live in. And make a little money off of it perhaps:D

I've been in a few...Some in a marked car, others on a motor and now I'm in an unmarked. The young guys act like they just got laid for the first time after a pursuit.

Celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary tonight...Good night!

I see what your saying and I agree. We dont know the details of the chase....im just going on what was said. I just dont get the point of trying to chase a bike that you cant catch. Someone said something about bikes being exempt from speed limits since cops arent allowed to chase where im from. I disagree. Nobody is exempt from the speed limits. Most people that are speeding on a bike are going to pull over and get the ticket. The ones that run are a small few....a dangerous small few. No need to go chasing after them and increasing the risks. Chances are if they run from the cops once....they will do it again. If they do it enough....they will most likely get caught eventually.

Haha...I know what ya mean. The fact that a lambo would even try to race me would make me feel good about my truck. haha. Ive raced a ton of ricers (when I say race....i dont mean all out street racing. I mean from a stop at a redlight to the speed limit or 5mph over like i usually drive...not going all out crazy on the gas. Heck i cant....with 4.56 gears it doesnt really pull anymore after 50). Ive beaten a lot of ricers and some mustangs....but all the real fast cars will just laugh at me. My truck was built for wheelin...not racin. The only reason people provoke me in my truck is cuase its loud as all get out (open headers). Nedless to say...it doesnt get driven on the street much.:doah:

Claiming ignorance is no excuse. Furthermore, it's not book learning. It's life learning. Something that some of us see on a daily basis. Someone doesn't need some piece of paper saying they learned human psychology for four years to understand what humans do in certain situations.
When I read your post I think "what a d*ck"

:wink1:

Just what I was observing. There is no reason that you need to see your self as the almighty that knows everything and talk down to people.

My 2 cents, no hard feelings

Anyways I don't really care about laws as there are none down here.
