I would say sit on it, but i wonder how much would be left of it in a few years.

unless you started it every week, and moved it back and forth, you gunna have proplems, not to mention rust, ou would have to spray the thing with oil reall good to hault the rust where it is at or at least slow it down.

Well thats the thing. It needs money just to do that. I need a new battery at least. The carb is probably messed up again from sitting so long. The brakes need to be re done, etc. I can't easily take it for a spin down the alley (no insurance on it) to get all the parts moving once and a while because the front calipers are stuck. The back window motor is dieing. its rusting. I just don't know what to do.
With what I want to do with it, it seems useless. The toy truck im driving all the time and can't afford more insurance. Plan to go to university/college after highschool so that takes all my money away. As far as I can see its jus going to sit for 6 or so years doing nothing, unless I win the million or something. I can't really take it with mewhen I move because i will be most likely be renting a apartment or sometthing without a lot of storage.
I'm sure my mom wouldn't mind letting me store it when I'm gone though.

I asked my mom and she didn't really give me an answer with what I should do with it. She just kept asking what I wanted to do with it.
Not even sure if I could sell it if I wanted. The interior is missing carpet and side panels so it would have to be a beater, or sold to someone with a "looks don't matter" mentality. (sp?)

As far as it goes right now, I'm keeping it. But I just don't know if its the best idea.

I only pay about $1000 per year for both my K5 and my Toyota. I have the K5's policy set for the lowest mileage (under 5K per year), and have limited use on my toyota since its a trail rig, have a good student discount and a clean driving record. Both trucks titles are in my name, as are the policies. Im not that much older than you either, im only 20. A clean record and good grades go a long way.

I could always look into the low mileage insurance for the Jimmy. As all I really would use it for is on weekends camping/wheeling/etc in the wilderness. I don't want to trash the toyota.
I know that insurance is going to be expensive for me no matter what. I think it was 1500-2000$ per year, not sure what that included.

I will keep updating this as I think.

For now, I am keeping the Jimmy. I just love the look of them and will keep it semi stock for now. I will get a couple months insurance in the summer to wheel with it or something. Still need to work a lot of bugs out of it though.

My other option of thinking was sell the Jimmy, and buy a 4runner. IMO it's a good trade off with my history. My dad has ALWAYS wanted a 4runner. So I think he would be happy if I replaced it with that. BUT I can't find one for low $$$ and the Jimmy needs a lot of fixing before I could sell it. oh well not yet unless i find a good deal.

Its staying for now!

horse crap. its paid for, drop the insurance, and dont drive it. it costs nothing for it to sit in wait of the day that you can afford to bring it back to its well deserved glory.

BINGO!

Keep it, park it.

I've got my old mans '73 RS/Z-28. It's been parked for the better part of 13 years now. I will never sell it, one day I will be able to afford to restore it.

I don't know if I already replied to this, but I will reply again.

It costs a lot of money to just let it sit. The front calipers are seized from sitting, the carb is a bit gummed up, and it's rusting away. It's costing too much :haha:

dont sell

i know how ya feel i just started college and my 86 only gets 10 mpg and i have put $1000 into it already since i have been here (2 months) it has been in the family since it was new and me and my dad have put many hours into it getting it to run and look as good as it does and i will never sell it. i will have it all my life just because of the memories that i have (i will keep it even if i have to work two jobs):D
dont sell
