Now mine is not a 4x4, but I am getting 16-17 mpg going 70 mph in my 68 Suburban with a 350, Turbo 400 and 3.08 rear. I have an Accel Air Filter, HEI, Edelbrock 1406 Jetted down 2 steps. I keep the tire preasure at 55. Other things that can help a LITTLE bit could be synthetic fluids. I heard vortec heads could help out 1-2 mpg. I have a set sitting in the garage just waiting to be installed. I don't know if it is true, but I heard that you can "ventilate" your gas with propane and you can pick up some MPG. There is nothing wrong with trying to eek out a few more MPG.
