injection pump failed, question before it goes in

took the cover off he pump. black pieces all over. have one off a friend. getting ready to get it in.. can the black pieces go into the injectors and cause problems? never thought of it

Well yeah, having crap get pushed through the injectors can cause them to stick, Thats why fuel systems have filters.
