is there diffrent pumps for the 6.2 ?

reman shop for my friends 6.2 pump says there is 2 diffrent pumps for the 6.2

he has a 1ton 2wd 83 6.2 465 work truck for the pump we will need.

if there is a diffrence is it easy to spot ?

There are more than 2 IP's...and all the differences are internal. I don't know all the numbers except the one that puts out the most fuel is the 4911 pump. Should be numbers on his current IP...and I'd go off of that.

contact these guys. they are the ones im going to have do my IP and injector rebuilds. I talked for quite a while with one of their guys and he reallllly knew his isht. he even knew about a version of the DB2 pump with two compressor rotors that they use on marine engines to provide fuel for 400+ hp applications. they are also gonna handle my injectors on my diesel jetta when i upgrade to PP520 nozzles on that vehicle. :woot:

so its all outside the same then. just inside stuff.

he was told 2 diffrent brands/manf. of the pump.

i have no idea. just helping verify info before he drives 1 hr each way to get the reman pump and use his old one as a core.

As far as I know, you have the c code 6.2(emissions engine, lower power) and the j code 6.2(non emissions, higher power)

we got the reman pump all cleaned/remaned/painted and tested thursday .

got installed and blead out 90% then friday morning fired up and finished blead out. fires and purss like a good little 6.2

he took it on a small trip in to town with 1.5ton of baged corn on the back for delivery. she trucked along much better than the last few months she was runnin. empty comin back over the steep hill he didnt have to down shift like he had before in the past.

There are QUITE a few different pumps. I am not 100% sure on how many, but I know I have 5 different pumps sitting in my garage right now. Head over to www.thedieseplace.com There is a 6.2 section will all the info you would ever want.
