Inner rocker for a first timer

This one cuts clean. Not as clean as the Miller 875 I used later on. But still very minimal slag. That hypertherm would leave huge slag. Tons of grinding. PiTA. I believe it was 10 or so years old the hypertherm but my boss wouldn’t let me change the tip and it was the same tip that had always been on that machine. So later on I chalked it up to that being the cause of the bad cuts lol.

Well we're in it now. Looks like I'm going to have to cut further down on the inner rocker. Found some pitting inside the outer rocker but nothing to make me think I should cut the whole thing out. I think I can clean it up and put some Eastwood's cavity coder or rust encapsulator on it and be done with it. Drilling out those spot welds was a pill. Putty knife did the trick on breaking a lot of the remaining weld out of the holes though. I put my inspection camera in there I didn't see anything crazy. Towards the rear of the cab it looks really nice. A lot of factory paint on most of the parts in there which is a good sign.

Did you get the new rocker fitted? I'm finding that I need to use alot of clamping force to get the rocker flush.

Yes. I only did the inner rocker and part of the floor pan. I had to stitch together three different panels and make a piece to resemble the factory curves. The fitment was poor but it will work and they'll be covered with carpet some day. I also learned I could do part of the footwell without removing the outer. Took a lot of hammering to get it right. The outer was in great shape on the inside. As for dinner fitment, the spot welds from the outer rocker that attach to the top portion of the inner rocker/floor pan did not fit very flush, but a few did enough to get contact and the others I filled with weld until I got contact. Hop over to my build titled Running Down A Dream to see loads of pics.

Do you have a link? Where do I find your build?

That should work. You'll have to go back a few pages. If you have questions feel free to ask. I won't be in the shop again for a day or so but I may have pictures that I didn't post or can give you more information. I'm happy to help.
