Input on Staun beadlocks please

Just as an after thought, when I did mine I welded up my original valve hole and moved them more toward the center to keep them out of harms way.

As far as the differences between tireloc and secondair/staun are minimal... but I seem to remember a pirate thread that talked about them both. From what I remember, the secondair guys did essentially "steal" the design, but they did make a couple of minor improvements also... mainly related to trying to make them easier to inflate. Could be wrong. I'd run them on my rig for sure. Only thing I like about normal 2 piece double beadlocks over the Stauns would be the ease of mounting your own tires. That'd be kinda handy. They are heavy and spendy though... never a good combo.

The thing I am trying to figure out is why are the Stauns so $pendy? I'm almost sure I remember Second Air beadlocks being sold in australia for like $169 per wheel... AUSTRALIAN dollars. Now Staun wants $225-250 here in the USA? huh?

Mounting a 16.5" tire is pretty easy. It doesn't even require tools...

The nice thing about the TireLocs (or Staun's I'd guess) is that as you inflate the inner bag, it helps push the beads out to the wheel mating surfaces so that it seals completely. Getting the beads to seat is usually the hardest part of mounting large tires....the TireLocs make it simple.

As for pricing...I am sure that it's a matter of supply/demand/competition. Why sell a Staun/TireLoc for $165 when a true double-beadlocked solution costs substantially more?? If you compare a conventional beadlocking system (that secures BOTH the inner and outer bead) a $200 price per wheel is not out of line.

true... I'm just thinking that it'd be a good idea to find a 4x4 penpal buddy in Australia to put a set on a boat for ya. Shipping via surface takes a few months, but its pretty dang cheap and if you could get them for under $200 in ASD, it'd be a heck of a deal compared to Stauns.

I've had them for about 3 years now and they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think Staun is just a copy of the TireLoc design. I'm not sure if they made any "improvements" to it....

I have run as low as 3 psi on 16.5" wheels, and have never blown a bead. I guess that says something about how well they work.
