I will be installing my 4" Rough Country lift on Sunday in my driveway with the help of some friends. Are there any tips or tricks from the "Built Not Bought" guys that will help make this as smooth as possible. As for the lift it is a four inch spring lift - no blocks. I have already sprayed all bolts with WD-40 and will hit them again tomorrow. Any help/tips/tricks will definitely be considered and are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

Get some PB blaster parts breaking fluid. Way better than WD40. Most of the time it will work after only an hour or so. Get a can and keep it in the tool box. It will become your best friend.:D

Use new u-bolts and torque them several times after you have driven it. i.e after the first 100 miles, 500 miles, before and after wheeling trips etc.

Get some new cotter pins if you are replacing any steering items.

 What he said!

Also, inspect any and all bushings, u-joints, and anything dealing with the lift for wear, corrosion, and whatnot. If you question the integrity of something, replace it. What you catch now and replace will save you tons of headache later. Good luck and congrats on the new addition! Be sure to keep us posted and take plenty of pics! :waytogo:

If you think you are hitting the steering arm too hard, you aren't! Beat it like a rented mule!!!!! Your steering wheel will be off by 180 degrees give or take, adjust your drag link. Spring bushings will be a bitch. They always are.

Oh, and beat the living crap out of the steering arm and adjust your draglink to correct the steering.

Otherwise, it's easy.

Get some new bolts for you spring eyes if they aren't included in the kit. More then likely you will have to cut a couple of them out because they rust to the sleeve in the bushing and won't come out.

When you install the new bolts put a coating of grease on the bolts so they are less likely to rust to the new sleeves. That way if you ever need to remove the bolts for some reason it will probably come out with being a b*tch.

Get new ubolts if they are not included with the kit. Get new longer brake lines if they are not included with the kit. A good set of tall jackstands makes life alot easier when you are doing the lift as does having 2 floorjacks.

PB Blaster EVERYTHING NOW, and again on Saturday, don't wait till sunday to do it.
