Just saw this one from FiTech in an email ad, a classic modular 4-barrel look:

And Holley has had this one out for a little while, a EFI version of the qjet:

Wish those would have been available when I bought mine. Pretty interesting the stuff these FI setups are doing now. Seems like they've really taken the market by storm.

I think a lot of end users don’t want others to know they are FI

But I like the idea of the Q style with small primaries. Should have good throttle response and mileage

I think it's great. More options keep pricing competitive.

It's about time too. Considering the last cars/trucks built with carburators we're 30 odd years ago we have an entire generation of gear heads that never experienced driving anything without EFI. I'm generalizing big time with that last statement as some might have had a project with a carb but, as the age is younger the less likely they are to have fooled with them.

Not to bag on millennials but the entire concept of a carb is as baffling as a rotary phone or typewriter to them. So to have the aftermarket come to the table with modern self learning TBI and multiport EFI systems is going to help keep the car/truck hobby going for the foreseeable future.

Even my own son had issues getting my old carbed 350 started when he was driving it in high school. Said it wouldn't start and I could walk out stomp the pedal twice and twist the key and it started. If you didn't grow up with the bs to get one started you just don't have that knack to get one going without flooding the snot out of it. Funny thing was I showed the kid how to do it and he still had issues. It's amazing how spoiled we get with the ability to hop in and twist the key and it starts every time the same way hot or cold.

It's be like you having to start a model T with the hand crank Rob...or even drive one! I never gave it any thought until I watched a video on how to drive a Model T. That is all kinds of bass-ackwards malarkey, I dunno how the hell Henry ever sold the first one.

On the flip side I can get in a Tesla and I don't know how the f*ck to drive it.
try towing one with a 100% dead battery / electric park brake on / no real tow hook points / oh and in the middle of a intersection of a 45mph road on evening rush hr flow . :rotfl::1zhelp::doah: i got it with zero damage and boy was it fun to figure out on the fly . jumper pack on fuse box terminals to power up system to set tow mode but only after you find a place to hook it and the winch cable is snug or the park brake off will let it roll .

When my wife drives the 73 I hand her the keys and say "now remember how to start a carburetor, push the pedal twice and crank."

The 66 she drives more frequently but it has a manual choke so it starts a little differently.

HELPFUL TRIVIA:

Old timers like us can still give the gas pedal 2 pumps on an EFI-equipped vehicle before twisting the key.... :)

And on my new car and the diesel. And dang near every care I have ever had. It's muscle memory. But it is only foot to the floor once for me. Then pump it once as it's cranking.

I’ve finally gotten past that in mine (been mostly FI 4 years)

There are often days I still try to push the clutch pedal in on my wife’s car

most efi systems are 50% or full throttle during crank = fuel injector cut out or 95% reduction in spray to do a flood clean out .

you pumping as it cranks does nothing basically to how it would start normal .

but as you have said its just old school memory in action .
