I know, I should have done this when I joined but I was jst getting my feet wet and didn't even take the time to take pictures of what I started with but I can't change what has been done. Around the first of December I bought a 74 K 5 that was posted on a local hunting board that really caught my eye. I have always had a thing for the K5 but I never really had the time or means to buy one much less fix one up. The day I saw pictures of it I was hooked. I had to have it and for only $2000 I thought I was getting a good deal. I had some guys from work go check it out for me and pick it up if they still thought it was a good deal. At the time i didn't really have a good idea of what things cost or were worth. They drove two hours to Dallas and picked it up. I had a good straight body and one small rust spot, the paint had a really cheap paint job 5-6 years ago and the clear coat was peeling pretty bad on the hood. The thing would barely run but had a new rebuilt engine with about 1000 miles on the clock. After fixing all of the vacum leaks, changing all of the fluids, changing spark plugs, new MSD distributor and ignition, the engine runs awesome and idles so smoooth. I then tore up all of the carpet and fixed the rust on the floors, added Dynomat and then put in new Corbeau seats. It has been at paint for the last five weeks and I am getting it back tomorrow!! I can''t wait. While it's been at paint I bought some new TC 4" springs, 1 " body lift, ORD sway bar disconnect, and a black soft top. All of this stuff has been sitting in my office torturing me. Like I said earlier I don't have any pictures of her in a dilapidated condition but I do have the pics from 4-5 years before I bought here. I will post up pics of the new pain job when I pick her up tomorrow. Sorry for the long winded rant, just had a lot of catching up t do.

not long winded rant at all, good description on event past
can't wait for some good pictures of the paint, top, and lift.
get the top and paint pictures asap tomorrow :)

Well, I got word that it won't be ready until tomorrow. What really sucks was that I was so damn excited that I woke up at 2 am last night and could never go back to sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I guess I 'll have to drink a few coldies to "calm down" tonight.

Yeah I did. I really liked that color even though I did consider a dark almos metalic gun metal gray but I didn't feel like spending that much on a 2K ride. Yesterday I ordered some new wheels that I think will look quite nice. The wheels that are on there right now are the ones in the picture which had a black rattle can paint job. I figuered that with the new paint it deserved some new wheels. Here is the link for the wheels. It will also be on 35X 12.5 X 15 BFG MT's.

I also forgot to mention that DIY4X made me one of his rear bumpers which is getting a nice coat of paint as well will be installed tomorrow.

Well I got it back yesterday and it was completely worth the 8 weeks I had to wait. It turned out great and for what they did, body work, replacing inner fender, painting and installing the diy4x bumper, I feel like I got a steal. Here are some pictures including the diy4x bumper. I am putting in the rear carpet and backseat tonight and the soft top goes on Friday.

looks good..

tho it looks like Kert's awesomeness may have given you a bit of saggy butt syndrome..

LOL!! I can see how that picture would make you think that . It's parked on a somewhat steep grade. Everything sits fine when it's level. The bumper isn't all that heavy weight wise. I'd say it's about 65lbs or so.

That color looks awesome. I think if I ever got my truck repainted it would be either a dark blue like that or gunmetal like you were saying before. Looking good!

Thanks. I had a buddy's 77" Bronco for a year while he was hiding it from his wife and it was a dark blue, not quite as dark as this one but I really liked the color. Putting on the softopper this evening. I will take pictures when completed.

So it's been a while and I haven't had a lot of free time to get things done. I recently put on the softopper and I am pretty pleased. I am not sure how the windows are supposed to fit when rolled up, inside or outside the top. For the overal functionality though it is awesome. I have been crusing along at 70mph with no trouble at all, except for the wind noise. I had the wheels put on this last Friday and I am very pleaseed with how they turned out. This nest week I am installing the new tc springs and getting rid of the Procomp springs, new Bilstein 5100's, swaybar disconnect kit, body mounts and 1" body lift. I am hoping to get all of this done so that I can hit up the offroad park this weekend. Thats my 2 year old son in the car and I think he loves the Blazer more than I do. He just walks around the house and says, " Dadies truck vroom" and then throws a fit when I don't take him for a ride.

Wow, looks great!!! Makes me really want to get mine painted finally... The original guy I wanted to paint mine bailed out on me, and the second guy that I have lined up is pretty backed up right now. Looks too nice to wheel it now!!!
