hello ck5 new member here just wanted to say thanks for the add and that I cant wait to gather all the invaluable info available on ck5........Start out by saying my name is Tony I am from op Kansas I am 28 married and a father I recently purchased my first k5 from Kenny w from wa and am currently patiently awaiting its arrival !!! my background and knowledge of cars is pretty basic Ive owned older cars in the past but the 4x4 world is fairly new to me and I look forward to tackling on the journey and learning as much as possibly and enjoying my k5 ...once I get the blazer hopefully Saturday I plan on starting a build up thread but currently I plan on driving driving and driving her ...... but future plans include a 1. completing interior 2. 6in lift 37in tires 3. body and paint 4. softtop and then driving driving driving again !!! Cant wait to tackle the project with my boy he is 4 soon to be 5 and keeps saying he cant wait to see out monster truck lol ............................................SO after all of this introduction I wil start out with my first question of many ................................ I recently purchased the rough country 6 inch lift dual steering stabilizer transfer case drop and extended brake lines , I don't plan on using the blocks I want to go with the shackle flip in the rear I don't know much about shackle flips other than it is way better than rear blocks so what all would I need to order for the shackle flip ? I saw on the diy4x4 website and I saw 6' shackle is this all I will need ?? thanks for the info

Sounds like a good plan. A DIY4X flip with 6" shackle will get you about 5" of rear lift depending on the shape of rear springs. Could be a bit more or less.

Plenty of good info and help here to guide you along :waytogo:

Also, did you buy his black and silver k5?

Pretty sure he only had 1 k5 for sale. Great rig to start with :thumb:

Keep us posted. Read before you do the general facebook squarebody mods. They tend to be pretty lame

You can use your stock rear springs with the shackle flip, and one piece of advice I'm sure everyone on this site will agree with: do not use the shocks that come with the RC lift if you don't want to get a cuncussion driving your truck around. Everybody will tell you rough country lifts ride like a buck board but you should be able to get an ok ride out of them by using high quality shocks: example- bilstien 5100s or 5125s are good ones. Welcome to CK5 and enjoy your truck!

Oh also, get ready to spend 8x more money on your truck than you would have by not joining here  :thumb:

Welcome to CK5.

For reference, Kenny's sale thread is here (assuming this is the rig we're talking about).

Deuling is right. These guys have a habit of talking each other into bigger and bigger projects...

Depends on your direction... I'm still under $5k all told. :woot:

Definitely depends on what you're building for.

My truck is nearly all original, with few mods and not many replaced parts. So I have about half that much invested in mine (I've added 16,000 miles to the odometer so far).

I have slightly bolder plans for my Suburban, and its purchase price was much higher, but its cost will still probably top out below $5k.

But I wouldn't pit my street truck against Adam's rig in the dunes. His is purpose built, with extensive modifications, and his purpose is fantastically expensive compared to mine. So the difference in price is quite natural. :thumb:

So choose your purpose (and your limits) wisely...one thing can so easily lead to another (:haha:), and every modification comes with a tradeoff.

Can't wait for pictures of progress!

Yeah, I've had several arguments with myself since I pulled the t-case to clock it about adding more lift and what-not while I'm in there. So far my wallet has won. Now for the :grind::hack::weld: once the weather clears and I can finish the t-case clocking.

Looking at the sale thread, that looks like an awesome start though!

Finally got my k5 and on our way to the shop to get heater horn shocks and couple other miscellaneous done she overheated so let the fun begin pics and updates on what all was wrong soon to come

Heater core was bad and Has set up for quad shocks didn't have any upfront and a couple more updates coming tomorrow once I talk to shop , once she gets out she's gonna be road ready !!!
