Wazzzzupp!!!

Hey All,
Well, it's been a long time-I was member back in '03 I think, when I bought my '75 and was all fired up to restore it. But then I sold a house, bought a house and deployed to afghanistan for 15 months so the old girl kinda fell off of the radar, and with it, my membership to CK5. I've checked in from time to time, mostly after looking wistfully at the truck, thinking about getting back to it.
Fast-forward to 2010 and the '75 is sinking gracefully into the back yard, I'm once again in Afghanistan and K5's have their hooks in me again! I got back to Afghanistan from my leave, checked out Ebay, and found the '86 that is now sitting in my front yard, complete with a 4" lift, 14 Bolt FF, 5.38 gears turning 35's, etc. I'm inpatiently awaiting the day that I can start her up for the first time. Of course, my 16 year old son has suddenly developed an interest in getting his driver's license (I guess he likes the full convertible modification too) and has assured me that "the battery won't go flat"...
Anyway, I'm glad to be back, and I'm looking forward to getting home and fixing all the nitnoid little things that go wrong with a 24 year old 4X4-rust, electrical, etc.-all with the help of the awesome crew at CK5!

Just got a new(old) blazer...

Just got a 1986 Blazer and will be working with my best friend to get it running good. My new project.

Aloha!

Hi Ed From Portland, OR. Been lurking for the last month gathering info on Blazers- K5 in particular. Fell in love with one back in 1975. The guy that owned it worked with my mother and I knew he drove it; but one day on the main drag in town, I see him with the top off and some girls in the elevated back seat. Smiles all around. I had my eye on a 74 El Camino Classic though. Since then I have driven a 73 C20 2WD- I still have it today. There has been a Chevy Wagon, a GMC Suburban, 3 mercs and last month I bought my first K5- the M1009 version. I have been fixing it up a little every day. I am trying to document it as I go along.

The Blazer will be my new primary hunting rig. I have got by fine all these years with the C20; but I have been drawing tags to the far reaches of the state and a 4x4 would be essential. It is a 6.2 diesel so I am relearning. I have 3 vehicles in my drive now with 350's and one with a 351 Cleveland. Never a diesel before, so I hope to get partially clued-in here.

Personal: I just had my 52nd birtday 4 days ago. My 25th Wedding anniversary 2 weeks ago. I have a son in his sophomore year at the U.. My oldest daughter will start next year; and my youngest daughter just started the 5th grade. My wife owns a business and I keep house and repair stuff 7 days a week. It's a good pace for me.

I learned auto mechanics from my brother who was a navy Mechanic. I never liked to work on cars; but out of necessity I have learned over the years most aspects of auto repair. I'm not great; I have the tow truck number on my cell phone; but I am trying.

Love fishing for trout and deer camp in most any weather.

Good to be here. Hope to see you out there.

Ed

So,not really new (joined site in '03) but just got another K5 after 6 years without one. Just moved to Oregon and looking forward to exploring this beautiful state in my "new" 1980 K5 Blazer.

New kid in town

Well I recently got into the blazer world, but have over 30 of the 73-87 style trucks. It started with a 1977 K5 Blazer for 200 bucks with a 250, 4 speed, and a 205. This thing is so rusted out that I decided to find a different body. I found a 82 Blazer that is completely rust free, so my brother is taking the diesel, and I'm taking the body. I am already planning on changing the cowl area to the early style, and making the few other changes, such as removing the gas door and replacing it with just an exposed cap piece of steel. It's going to be a restoration completely done properly. I do have some questions though. The 77 I have has completely had the interior jerry rigged, and is almost completely gone from original. If any of you out there have a 1977 and before blazer that is fairly original interior wise so as to allow me to copy off of and get ideas, could you please send photos or attach them? Thanks for that if you do. Mine is a Custom Deluxe package, and I was also wondering if this is fairly rare, especially added to the 250 4 speed setup. Now for some body advice help. I have the ability to build and weld just about anything to make it look factory, so should I modify the body mounts to put the body on the frame, or modify the body to match the early design, with less leg room for the rear? Thanks for your time, and good luck you on your build.

New member

My name is Mike. I am located in the SF Bay Area. This 1987 Jimmy K5 is my third K5. My previous ones were 1980 Blazer K5 and 1990 Blazer K5.

My Jimmy is stock 350 TPI. No mods. But, that won't last long. First bit of work is taking place right now in my garage. 6 in lift. Will just clear the garage door. Won't once the stock height wheels/tires are replaced.

Want to have this rig ready for next year's Blazer Bash.
