Introductions & Greetings

Planning a project.

I'm Tim from Yucaipa, California.
I've got a 1984 32' GMC Midas RV Class A. :D It was hit in the front right corner before I got it and it wracked the coach so hard that the roof joints at all 4 walls leak and the walls near the front are separated from the floor. :doah: My plan is to strip it to the chassis which is a 2-and-a-half ton GMC with a 454CI and a TH400, and build up a custom double-taker.
Among the possible concepts is to set a Suburban body on it with a Dually pickup bed behind it, delete the rear fender wells in the body/cab and essentially build a super long pickup. Also thinking of 4-linking the rear end, C-notching the frame, and bagging all 4 corners. so I can lay frame for easy loading of the bike, toolbox, or whatever.

Hi from Utah

Hello all,

I was referred here by the good people at the expedition portal. Not to much to say, I lurk more then yap, just looking for good information to help build up my 1989 'Burban.
Thanks for having us.

Greetings

Anybody here from South africa??
Recently bought a '75 Blazer K5 pick-up for R25 000 RSA (meaning around $3500), and I am REALLY impressed with it. Love the sound of the 350cu V8, and the off-road capabilities. No mechanical problems on the engine, tranny and axels. Just in need of a serious respray. Interior is perfect condition... Have to take care of it like a baby, 'cause there's no spare parts for it in S.A.

Holy crap, realized I've been here for a little while now, nearing 100 posts and no intro! :eek1:

Alright my name's Eric Schaefer (That's Mr. Schaefer Pants, not Mrs Chaefer Pants btw) Forget the details, started at work, was Mr. Schaefer Pants, Schaefer Pants, and reduced to Pants. No idea.

26 years old, living in WA currently, from MD. Just got out of the Army after almost 7 years. Two deployments to Afghanistan. Seperated, will be divorced soon :woot: Two kids, 5 and 6. Currently and for the first time unemployed, loving my 'time off' but come February 9th should be back working again for General Dymanics, 6 month contract stateside, then a year deployed to.. you guessed it; Afghanistan! But as a civillian, with civillian pay. :waytogo: Was headed to WyoTech for their Street Rod and Custom Fabrication with Collision Repair/Refinishing, but it got pushed back till May, that's too long w/o a job or a crap job inbetween so I decided to do this contract for a year, then goto school. So when I get back, I'll be heading to Laramie WY, or Blairsville PA.

Got into K5s through my buddy. He's had a few, my other buddy has one, kinda like a little crew. My first was an '86 Blazer I bought for $850 a few months back, lifted 6" on 35 BFG KM2 M/T. Motor was tired, axle buckled a month after putting the 35s on it, topper seals leaked, no interior. Woulda been nice as a wheeling truck, but at the time it was my DD. So few months later I found a nice 85 Jimmy, for now it'll be my DD, sold the 86 Blazer last week, and now I'm fixing up the Jimmy. Not sure my plans for it yet. Motor soon, 3/4 ton stuff in the future. Pic of the Jimmy's my avatar.

When I got into K5s I was floating around all the K5 and Blazer sites, finally settled on this one a while back, and I've gone through a few different vehicles, and forums in the last couple years, so I'm settling down and decided I'll start up a 'build' thread here.

So hey guys, what's up, love the site so far.

EDIT: BTW, long winded, and I edit my posts 20 times after I post it the first time.

new

Hey everyone, I'm 23 in the USAF currently stationed in south dakota. I drive a 1985 k5 with a 350, np203 tcase, 33x12.50 tires-soon to be upgraded.

Howdy. I am William from Crouse, NC. I have heard a lot of good things about this site and I am here to see if they were right. I just traded a 96 S10 with no motor for a 82 K5 with a 6.2l diesel, but a terrible body. Then I found another k5 with a perfect body and no drivetrain. SO I am going to be combining the two in to my dream truck.

I learned to drive in an 82 K10 Suburban with a 6.2 and I have wanted a Blazer with one ever since. My wife is already callign it her truck but I have other ideas.

85 Burban

Newbie here:
85 Burban, 6" lift, 35" BFG A/T's, Headers, Dual Flowmasters.

So far the site has been a great help.

hey all, names EJ 21yo, im living in midway park nc right now. bought my v20 sub from my inlaws in washington and the engine only made it to montanna.
i have a build thread on another forum, but once the build gains some more momentum i will probably start a build thread here.
plans are a new engine, and depending on money possibly a stronger tranny. probably wont lift her till im back in washington.
