Introductions & Greetings

Hi,
My name is Sean I live in Lacey Washington 70 miles south of Seattle. I have a 79 GMC Jimmy with a 383 stroker in it. I am looking for help on a couple of projects on it and will be posting about them. the rig needs a little TLC. I will post pics in my profile soon.

New here. I bought my 89 Blazer 6 months ago. I call it frankentruck because it has so many different parts on it. It took 4 trips to the parts store to get all the suspension parts right. Some stuff is off a 1980 suburban and other stuff is older than that. I have rebuilt the suspension, new LMC front shiny stuff, replaced the drivers side floor, and installed 03 silverado seats with built in seat belts.

My plans are a new interior, 14 bolt FF in the rear and a dana 60 front, rebuild the NP241 with SYE and other stuff. Here is a pic! Thanks guys and gals.

Welcome all!

Hey Tom, those seats are still my most favorite upgrade I have done. Good lookin truck!

Howdy! Picked up a 1987 GMC Jimmy tail end of last summer and been messing with it over the winter. Currently bone stock with 32" BFG All Terrains under it. Live just north of Lansing, MI Only own GM stuff - between the wife and I we have six vehicles. Collect pretty much anything with an engine in it but concentrate on chainsaws, tractors and cars. Shed is currently full so now the goal is to fix all the crap I have instead of accumulating more.

New(to me) 6.2 K5

Ok, Picture time. I posted on here a while ago, but just actually bought my 1983 K5 6.2 diesel. I payed for the membership and judging from the treasure trove of info here it will be a good investment. I plan on searching feverishly, however, if you guys have links readily available...

I need.
- Fuel routing diagram. (I gotta replace diesel return lines)
- Temp gauge action. Mine doesn't work.
- Tune up info fluid recommendations and such.
- Best economical option to go from stock to 35" tires.
- Dash is f'ed up. Replace it? Cover it? Rip it out?
- The power windows are slow or unresponsive. Switch to manual? replace motor? Just clean it?

Looking forward to scouring this place.

Brian

Hey Brian, nice truck. Create a similar but dedicated post here in the Garage forum and you'll get more feedback. :thumb:

Fwiw, I saw a post on a local board where a guy is parting a CUCV. It may have some diesel stuff that could help you. Shoot me a pm if you need the info.

Hi! I'm Ryan from Beaverton, Oregon. I used to have a 1988 3/4 ton Suburban, which I miss, and have recently re-caught the full-size Chevy bug. I hope to find a CUCV pickup to play with, or perhaps another suburban to dump all my money into for ORD crap!

Hello! I am the FNG for now. Scott from Clarksville, TN. 23 years in the Army. I have an old M1031 CUCV and have had some M1009 Blazers. I have been meaning to join for some time and am just getting around to it.

Hey all new.have a 87 gmc jimmy.

Wanted to get some in put on some old thread that i have been looking into to do a change over.I Have a full size 87 gmc jimmy 5.7TBI,6"soft ride lift,Rear shakle flip overs from ODR,and just changed out my transfer case from a 208 to a 205.I have been researing hard on the exact cut off and spacers no luck.I hope to help some one better.I got a spacer from ODR it is 11/2 thick and cut 3/4 off the shaft of my 700r4 trans and it works well.It was necessary to get a crossover off a 78 chevy with a 203.You can use a crossmember from 1973 up to 1984 with a 203 or 205.The foot on the 205 case was 1/2 longer so i allready had the 11/2 transfer case drop went to a 2" and is in the same place as the 208.the crossmember fell in the secound set of hole in the from no drilling other than making the 2" drop blocks from Tubular steel.I know that the front shaft need shortend by a inch or a little more and need a new rear all together being i installed a rear flange on the 205.Any more input that some one could help me or if needing input ill do my best.Like i say still working on the safts will update.

Howdy everybody. My name is Sean, I'm 16, and I live in San Diego, California. I'm really excited about being a member after the couple years I've lurked here for information. I recently acquired a 1981 K5 with so much good stuff that I don't think anyone here would believe me. lol Can't wait to meet some new wheelers!

Just bought my first k5, a 1970. Love it. Had been looking for a first gen for about a year or so, and finally found one that met my criteria. Needs some work so I will definitely be looking through all the useful info on this site. Love what I have read so far the past few weeks. There is so much knowledge and tips I'll be interacting for years to come. Thanks in advance to all who make this site so useful.

We need pics..:D

Hello, my name is Nathan. I just aquired a "62 Scout" that is on a 86 K5 frame and drivetrain. Needless to say, the only thing that is Scout is the sheetmetal. It has a 412sb with a 700r4 and 208 tcase. It is sitting on 6" lift, all leafs no blocks, and rear shackle flip. the front axle is a 3/4t 10 bolt with a rock ram setup and Detroit Truetrac. The rear is a Ford D60 with disk brakes and posi. It is currently not all togeather as the PO was in the middle of converting to the auto from a manual.

My wife and I also have a 99 4x4 Suburban 2500/w the 454. This is our do-all vehicle.

Have a heartbeat again.

Just bought me a 87 K5 with a 350 in it. Ive always been a GM fan and my Grandfather was a painter for GM also. This is my second 4x4 and it blows my old exploder out of the water. Its an old truck though and has its problems that I will need help to figure out. No pics yet cause it was dark when I got it home. Thanks in advance.

Hi all! Just registered in hopes of posting my current project. 6x6 GMC M211 Military truck I shoehorned a 6.2L Humvee motor into. This is the only place the forum will let me post for some reason. So hopefully after this post it will alow me to post as normal. :D

It may take a couple posts here and there before you can start your own post in "the garage". There is a 5 posts minimum for non paying members before you can post pics or link them from another site. So, make some posts, start your thread and post up some pics of that beast. You can be damn sure we want to see them!!!

And welcome to CK5!!! (also applies to the other newcomers before this post) :D
