Introductions & Greetings

Hey guys, here's my 1987 K5 Blazer. I bought it from my friend back in May. I've always been a fan of square bodies and wanted one for quite some time so I knew I had to jump on the opportunity. It's currently my daily driver until I get my Jeep up and running again. No major plans as of right now. Could use a tint but that's about it. I'd like to swap out the 305 down the road for something bigger but for now I'm just enjoying it the way it is. Been lurking for a while now but decided to finally become a member. Seen a few square bodies running around in the central Florida area but haven't had the chance to meet anyone yet.

My '96 Grand Cherokee (stock). This spot isn't too far from me but it's pretty wet right now. I'm hoping it dries up eventually because I still haven't had a chance to take the K5 off road yet.

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D
Hello this is Jimmy
And I have recently joined your gang by purchasing a 1977 GMC High Sierra Jimmy. Though I am somewhat familiar with this machine by once owning a 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton this is my first Jimmy and I Plan on building my EMP proof Jeep recovery vehicle out of this beast and look forward to your input, help and criticism on this project and don't worry you can't hurt my feelings. (My lovely bride has that handled )
Though I plan on Huge modifications to the Jimmy I plan on keeping certain aspects of it noticeably stock. I have a machine and welding back ground and within reason can rebuild almost anything I can take apart.

I look forward to talking to some of y'all

Hey guys, been on here for a while, but never really introduced myself! My name is Shane and I'm a Missouri boy! I currently own an 87 k5 that is my daily driver (on nice days:whistle:) and is by all means my baby! I found this truck on Craigslist and it was owned by an elderly man who had passed away. This truck was his pride and joy and he enjoyed it up until the very end.

I do plan on building this truck up, but nothing too extravagant.. Mainly just build a healthy small block for it;) and lift it 2-3" with some more aggressive tires.. It is fun to get a little rowdy every once in a while, but I am never really planning on doing hardcore wheeling with it. The only thing that I have really done to it thus far is stick a set of headers on it and run a good stainless exhaust set up.. Other than that, she's almost stock as a rock! For now...:D

Just joined this forum. Don't mind the name. It was a back up in case the one I normally use on forums was taken like it was here.

Haven't had much chance to roam through many threads yet, but I'll give you an idea what I do. I buy and restore old cars and trucks (unintentionally collecting them through the years).

I currently have 11 toys of various makes and models ranging from a 57 Chevy Belair to a couple 69-72 Fords (Mustang Fastback and Gran Torino Sport Cobrajet), to a few big Chevy trucks and K5 Blazers and a sweet Chevy SSR.

I retired 12 years ago and just build big boy toys now for something to keep me out of trouble.

Time to surf the forum and see what available.

Hey all,
I am new to the site, but not new to wheeling or K5s. Me and my dad built an 82 when I was younger. Been wheeling in everyone else's rigs for a while and finally picked up another of my own.
I recently picked up a 74' with a 454, th400, NP205 and one tone axles already in it. The body is ugly but the drivetrain is great. Had some minor mechanical issues that are already giving me headaches. I went to replace the rear main seal a couple days ago and didn't realize that the oil pan won't clear the crossmember since it is not the stock motor. So it looks like I will need to lift the motor a couple inches to get the pan out and then replace the seal and gasket. Any advice on best practices for lifting a big block on one of these? I will be upgrading to the higher membership soon so that I can start posting pics and maybe a build thread. Most of the building that I will be doing will be custom fab work for sliders, bumpers and a cage. Then eventually I will probably dovetail it in the front. Then I am sure I will come up with something else to keep me busy working on it.

Thank,
Matt

Hey everyone. Been lurking here and reading up on some awesome builds! My names Clayton and have been born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. Picked up an 83 k5 a couple months back. Fully caged with a 52" front leaf swap that im pretty sure is going to be my cause of death sooner or later. Big body roll issues coming from it. it has a fresh 350 SB. Full convertible conversion with a convertible soft top. All of this done by the previous owner. Unfortunately a good amount of the work on it is pretty hack so i will slowly but surely be making improvements on it. My favorite part about it however would be the fact that i picked this thing up for $1200 bucks and a 30 pack of keystone light... (gotta love the rednecks out in AZ :woot:). I would love to do a 5.3 swap sooner or later as the funds allow, but for now im just gonna enjoy it like it is!

Ps still trying to figure out this whole picture thing...

Come awn, I want to see pics of that thing. Sounds nice!

My name is Bill Bennett from Midland, TX. I've been a member for several years but this is the first post for me. I've always been interested in different topics and threads. I have a 75 Blazer with a 600 HP 468 in it that is scary fast and only gets driven on the street since I live in the desert which is FLAT. I also have three other Blazers that are not complete. I rescued them from the crusher at a wrecking yard about ten years ago. Bodies are stripped, no front axles or drive-trains. I just couldn't let them be crushed! Also have a 79 Blazer which had a full drive-train but somehow someone who was very determined stole the engine, tranny and TC.

Anyway, since I do have all these gutted bodies/chassis laying around I had thought about building a two wheel drive Blazer and wondered if anyone could give any tips on the conversion. I know it sounds like blasphemy, but at least I did save 'em from the crusher! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Naww, 2WD isn't blasphemy. Crushing beautiful non-rusty sheet metal would be blasphemy. ;)

For good conversion tips, start a thread with your questions in the Garage section of the forum. Folks will chime in with their input.

Welcome to CK5! :waytogo:

Hey Everyone,

I finally did it, got myself my first classic, 1972 k5 Blazer with a 4 spd manual , 350, that's pretty much all I know. Wish I knew more about engine miles but the gauges all work and the rust is very minimal. I'm a total newbi when it comes to restoring and fixing rust but I'm just generally excited to have this first gen and have some fun.

Here's the craigslist add with some pictures till I figure out how I can post my own pictures,
