Introductions & Greetings

Hello. K5 newbie, but a general Chevy hardcore nut. Currently have a stable of Camaros (Rebeka Camaro is the '99, then there's a '67. two '95s, and an '86). Bought my latest project for the wife to take her camping. Had a BMTroubleYou X5 for a time, but sold that for a pair of 5 Series wagons (long story, wife needs something to haul her service dogs in, and she's currently at three Great Danes).
Anyway. Bought this Blazer from a friendly neighbor that burnt up the tranny and seized the motor. When I got it I had intended on putting a 5.3 in it with a 4L80e, but I've since taken an early retirement to stay home and take care of the wife, and changed plans a bit. Currently she's in the shop (the truck, not the wife) getting a fresh engine and tranny installed. Don't know what's next, but it can't be nearly as bad as working on that !#@$@$ X5. I'm pretty comfortable spinning a wrench (replacing the front end of one of the wagons right now, thanks to hitting a coyote on the freeway the other day), but wanted a place to visit for reference, ideas, and a safe space if I ever bite off more than I can chew.

hey, ive been reading stuff on this forum for a while now and i figured it was about time i joined. ive had my 72 blazer for a few years now and shes been sweet! id like to get down to blazer bash this year, just need to sort out some FItech fuel pump issues and a few oil leaks. but still a list of things i want to do to her someday! you can see the external differences from when i first picked it up compared to now, inside is a new 350 sb with fitech fuel injection a new turbo 350 new front and rear 4" lift springs, front and rear drive shafts but the 205 still needs a rebuild and twin stick mod.. and maybe 203 doubler as well

Hey everyone, my name is Nick. I am from northern California and about 6 months ago I got my first k5. It's strictly a wheeling rig that I mostly trailer, but it is street legal. I've done a lot of reading on this forum, learned a lot of things here, and I figured I should sign up here. I am a general contractor which usually gives me plenty of snow wheeling time being that I'm from Pollock Pines. I am always looking for people in the area to wheel with. I'll see if I can attach a picture of my 85 k5.

@530BLAZER cool to see another local, I'm over in Lincoln. I have a friend that lives up in Pollock Pines you might know, he wheels too.

We're trying to put together a CK5 Rubicon run this spring if you're interested.

@530BLAZER welcome dude! What are the specs on your blazer? I'm from the chico area but live in the north bay now.

-700r trans with shift kit, billet input and output shafts.
-dual cases, 203 to a 205 with hardened oversized input/output shafts. Allows 4:1 low range
-triple sticked, so front and rear are independently selectable for low or high range
-oversize DOM chromoly drive shafts by High Angle Driveline and spicer ujoints
-Military spec (3/8" thick axle tubes)Dana 60 front with Detroit locker and 4:56 gears
-14 bolt full float rear axle. Military spec as well. With Detroit locker and matching gears
-Off Road Designs high steer kit with heavy duty 2wheel drive steering box.
-Redneck Ram stage 3 hydraulic assist steering kit
-custom deaver spring packs up front
-rear shackle flip kit by ORD
-4 wheel disk brakes
-5 military HMMWV beadlock wheels re entered by Stockton wheel
-42x14x16.5 irok super swamper tires
-softtopper
- 12k smittybilt winch

Waiting on the metal fab guy I use to get some free time and he will be setting me up with a cage in the next month or 2

Hey skunked, you ever come up to play in the snow in this area? Would love to see another blazer up here to help with pulling out all the Toyota's. As for the Rubicon trip, I think that sounds awesome. I've only gone up there for a couple hours one time. My in laws live in Moab, so I might try and check out blazer bash as well.

I haven't brought the K10 up there yet, I tend to stay over on the 80 side since it's closer. Moab is worth a trip, I drove out for the last BB and I'm considering going again this September.

I'll make sure to tag you when we figure out a date for the Rubicon trip.

Long time ,first time. Been a member for a year and a half. Got my 74 Blazer from my brother about 1 1/2 years ago.Did a cosmetic refresh in the meantime, new floorpans, seat covers, weatherstripping, exterior paint(flat orange/white top). Its got the stock 350/th350 203 combo,373 gears,35in toyo mud terrains.Im pretty tech ignorant and don't know how to post pics.I got a few questions, but figured I should introduce myself first. I come from a more hot rod background( my other truck is a 56 chevy with a f1x procharged bbc,th400 manual vb,narrowed 12 bolt,32x18.5 x15 drag radials)Been lurking for a while and have learned a lot.Done all work on all my trucks myself minus trans/axle work.

Howdy All,
Noob here from Idaho. Just bought a 91 K5 with no engine tranny or xfer case. I also acquired through barter a 383. so still need a tranny and xfer. Going to be a great project! looking forward to the knowledge and help I see around here!

Yep, Have a 3/4 ton 14 bolt rear end, change the front to have the 3/4 ton hubs. Lockers, naturally aspirated 383 stroker, armored as much as practical underneath. As much old school non electronic as is possible/ practical. Rhino liner interior and lower body with a close approximation of the Montactical Riptile paint job. Kind of a BOV but I already live where people would bug out too.... lol so it is just a middle age toy, turning 50 in a couple months and this isn't the country for a hotrod so I'm goin 4x4 who knows what I'll end up with.. all it takes is money and time right? well and help, tools, more money, skills, more money, knowledge, oh and more money!
